Am i more then you bargained for yet? Chris had been having one of the worst days ever, first he confronted Annie which wasn't his smartest move and then as if to rub salt into the wound that night he found his sister crying on the bridge. Now it was about midnight.. or it possibly could be the next day be he couldn't even think about sleep. He sat in the dungeons fairly sure nobody would bother him as the only people that roamed around the dungeons were slytherins who were usualy all in bed by then.
"Cant you just keep it together" Chris said holding his head in his hands, he sighed slightly and sat up straight staring at the wall opposite him as he sat there on the stone cold floor. Why the crap does stuff like this happen in such short periods of time? he thought to himself, he was fairly sure he could have handled his sister with ease if the entire Annie thing hadn't happend but he could still feel the anger and stress that little confrontation had caused. I thought i loved that girl.. Loves a lie he thought to himself shaking his head in pain. I've been dying to tell you anything you wanna hear. But that's just who i am this week. IT was imperitave that nobody saw the side to Bethany that she wished she could show them. In order for her to maintain the reputation she had gained in such a short space of time, she wouldn't allow herself to be seen for the person she really was. As a result, she had taken to wandering the corridors of Hogwarts, more the dungeons than the corridors actually, and dedicated that time to living outside of the facade.
WHILST most people saw her as a sarcastic, antagonistic, and downright bitch, only her family got to see the kind side to her. Okay, so she was sarcastic, and she did like to wind people up, and she could be rather bitchy, but there was more to her than that. It was almost a way to protect herself, hoping that if people didn't see her as vulnerable, they wouldn't try to hurt her. That was something her aunt had told her, and it worked rather well for her so far.
SOMEONE else was out of bed, the voice made her sure of that, and it was one that she recognised. 'Can't you just keep it together?' It struck her that the voice belonged to Christopher Weasley, the very person she had last met in the dungeons as she asked him how to get out of the school. She had long since given up trying to escape Hogwarts, and she wasn't in the mood right now to put her mask back on. Perhaps she could tolerate being nice to him? Beth would try at least. "Bad day I take it?"

Am i more then you bargained for yet? Chris sat there staring at the wall in front of him untill he heard a voice, which made him jump slightly. Looking to see who it was his eyes met the face of Beth Dalton Merlin kill me now he thought to himself, he didn't have time for another girl to make his day worst. Chris almost laughed when she said the words 'bad day'. That was an understatement if he had ever heard one.
Chris nodded "I guess you could say that" he said rubbing his eyes slightly, if she asked why his eyes were teary he could always say he was tired, although it was kind of obvious he wasn't tired. "So.. you going to say something whitty and mean?" he asked, he'd rather she just got on with it and left him alone he didn't need abuse, not after the tons he had already had.
"I'm sure you'll hear all about my day soon enough" he said with a sigh realising that soon it would probably be some sort of hot gossip unless something huge happend like someone dying.. dont even think about it Chris he thought to himself, to be honest he just needed someone.. Annie now had Trevor to 'fall back on' he was left alone.. except from his family, but he wouldnt share emotions with them.. he ha to say strong to seem like the big guy who could protect them all. I've been dying to tell you anything you wanna hear. But that's just who i am this week. Wearing: Outfit Comment: Hey Lyrics: Sugar We're Going Down - Fall Out Boy Credit: Me

BETH could have bet all of the money in the world that Chris would assume she was going to say something nasty, and she wouldn't have lost a penny. It was perfectly understandable however, she rarely said anything to or about anyone except the Daltons or Jaslene Malfoy. After discovering that the girl she got on with relatively well would soon be her sister-in-law, Beth had been somewhat cheered up, but she still enjoyed being sarcastic and argumentative.
"AS much as I'd love to, I'm saving it for tomorrow. I guess you could say I have to recharge overnight." Bethany found it a whole lot easier to be horrible to someone than it was to be nice. If you messed up with a friend, they would hate you, but if you messed up with an enemy, they hated you anyway so there was little difference. Plus it gave her an excuse when she felt that she needed to hit someone. "I'm sure I'll be able to keep up the wit though," she replied with what was almost a smile.
"I'M guessing it involves... a girl? And there's been some sort of fall out, and you've been thrown to one side like a piece of rubbish?" Despite her lack of personal experience with relationships, she'd read enough books and been at Hogwarts long enough to get a pretty good idea about what they were all about and how they worked... or in most cases, how they didn't work.

Am i more then you bargained for yet? "Well as long as its not too my face" Chris said with a small shrug although part of him was happy she wasn't going to take the mic it didn't stop the actually feeling he had before she had arrived and Chris although he didn't know Beth that well he knew she probably wouldnt cheer him up at all. He had always thought of her as someone to make sure to stay out of the way from but so far she actually seemed to be.. nice.. which he wasn't sure if he could trust yet.
"Well we wouldnt want you to loose your whit" he said forcing a smirk as he looked at her, she was what he had to think was the complete opposite of Annie, a blond slytherin who wasn't that loud and was cunning .. or at least she seemed cunning. He was fairly sure Beth could be loud if she wanted to but maybe she was what he needed for a while.. an Anti-Annie, just to make him feel better as it was Annie that had made him feel bad.
Chris almost let the frown he had been hiding behind a smirk re-appear she had pretty much summed up his problem without speaking to him Am i that readable or is it already going around school or.. what? he thought then nodded "Yeah, that's it, although Ive learnt a lot about love and heartbreak, just do yourself a favour and take things slow" Chris said and he heard himself say it but that was in no way Chris, he was the kind of person that rushed things or just went however fast the other person wanted to go. The truth was he had thought he was in love with Annie when he hadn't but even though it had only just ended and he still missed Annie, he knew it wasn't love but wanted that feeling again. "JUST for the record chris, i am capable of being nice, and i won't be going off bitching about you. if anyone asks, i'll deny it, but you're actually not that bad." why had she said that? beth had no idea, but there was no harm in cheering someone up when they were clearly in the dumps. as much as she loved being a bitch, you needed friends too, and not everyone would be your friend just because they're related to you. she was determined not to rely on her family forever.
"OH i very much doubt that i'll lose it, but if i'm going to be nice then i'm at least keeping that or i'll lose the ability to talk." chris was silent for a few moments, and his focus on her and apparent concentration was slightly uncomfortable. he starting speaking again and the feeling wore off, though she would have liked to know what it was he had been thinking. "i intend to steer clear of relationships for the time being. i've had no need for them in the past and i can't see the point in changing that just yet."

Am i more then you bargained for yet? Chris paused for a moment almost not believing his ears, Bethany Dalton had just called him 'not that bad'. He wasn't that sure how to react "Erm.. thanks.. your not that bad yourself" he said momentarily forgetting why he was down in the dumps anyway, she had caught him off guard but it was all coming back to him now.
"You loose the ability to talk?" Chris said with a small genuine smile he may not have spoken to Beth much but he had seen her talking to other people and he had seen her have a go at people. "Well that's definitely something the entire school would hate" he joked feeling genuinely a bit better, he had needed something or someone as the case may be to take his mind off things and if Beth was that someone he would just go with it.
"Good, because love at first sights a load of baloney, so dont fall for that rubbish and you take in charge, dont let anyone push you into anything, you wouldnt be you otherwise" he said with a small nod, Bethany seemed like the kind of girl that wanted to find a guy she could in a way control, not like a slave but the kind of guy she could go 'do me a favour and..' and he would do it without minding. Chris on the other hand was the kind of guy that, sure he'd do stuff like that but of course he'd had to say 'go on then, say please' which would probably do a lot of people's heads in. "first time i've ever heard that. 'beth, you're such a bitch.' 'beth, you're heartless.' 'beth, go die.' makes a pleasant change." bethany was aware that she brought it all upon herself by being a bitch and acting heartless, and so it was no wonder that most people hated her. it was easier that way, not necessarily nicer, but it saved her having to deal with the social issues that a lot of other people had, like falling out with the friends or splitting up with their partner.
"i might have to try that one day, not talking at all. should hopefully scare a few people." it probably wouldn't, but there was no harm in trying, right? when everyone expected you to snap at them and insult them, they'd probably be a little freaked out if you didn't say anything to them at all. there was still the option to give people evils or trip them up or something, but it didn't quite have the same effect.
beth let out a subtle laugh as he mentioned taking charge and not falling in love at first yet, not letting anyone push you into anything. "that's easier said than done with my parents, and i don't think they've ever heard of the word love. for them it's all about being married off to another pure-blood and keeping up appearances." she wasn't quite sure whether she envied josh or not - he knew who he was going to have to marry, but beth was still in the dark. she wanted to know so that she could put together an escape, but there was a part of her that hoped her parents had forgotten about her, as unlikely as it was.

Am i more then you bargained for yet? "Well 'i hate you' i find is the one that can hurt the most." chris said with a shrug, especially depending on who said it. "Buy your not that bad, well when your not plotting to burn down the school" He said then gave her a smile, sure it wasn't a very enthusiastic smile but it was the best she was going to get for a while.
"One time when i was little i eat some of my fathers silencing sweets.. they were just a prototype but i was quiet for two entire days before i decided to confess using a variety of hand actions to try and explain why i couldn't speak" Chris said smiling genuinely at the thought of it.. His mother had moaned at his dad to keep his work at work but he never did.. he still brought prototype sweets and jokes home to work on.
"Yeah i heard about that.." Chris said with a shrug "hows josh finding it?" he asked curiously he couldn't even imagine what it would be like to find out you were in an arranged marrige, he would be pretty pissed off with his parents. "i've heard it too many times for it to make much of a difference to be honest. then again, i guess i give them more than enough reason to do so." to be completely honest, beth took it as a compliment nowadays. for the first week or so of her being at hogwarts, yeah, it had hurt a bit, but that was when she realised she was making an effect and leaving her mark on the school. if she bitched about and to people, she wanted a reaction, there was no doubt about it. 'i hate you' now seemed to translate as 'congratulations beth, you've pissed me off too'. it was pretty much the only thing that made going to school bearable for her.
"we wouldn't have bothered burning the school down unless we thought it would actually get us out of the school, but once styx became headmaster and our parents starting praising him as an excellent man, we knew we were stuck." she wanted to know exactly what it was that jonathan had in common with the adults of the dalton family, but beth had a feeling it was one of those things that once you found out, you wished you hadn't. even so, she was curious all the same. beth didn't particularly like either of the heads that she had seen in her short time at hogwarts, but she viewed hermione as a greater person than the current head. perhaps it was because she was a woman, or maybe it was just her built in need to disagree with her parents.
"i think i'd have killed myself, i'd at least like the option to speak to still be there," bethany replied after hearing about christopher's story from his childhood. her parents had never produced anything like silencing sweets, but it sounded like the kind of thing that one of the children would have bought on one of their many trips to diagon alley. well, knockturn alley, but the adults were normally too busy to notice the eight children slip away into the better lit alley with the more child-friendly shops. "i try not to bring it up, it's obvious how displeased he is. but he could've done much worse, jas isn't that bad." did anyone know it was jaslene he was going to marry? beth had been so engrossed in studying recently that she'd toned out of all the gossip, so she couldn't tell if chris was likely to know already or not.

Am i more then you bargained for yet? "Just dont make it your mission to make everyone hate you, you'll only end up alone" Chris advised her with a small shrug, he had been the type of kid who wanted the world to hate him, looking back he wasn't sure why he had done it but he began to wish he had been sorted into Gryffindor, it would have made a hell of a lot of stuff in his life simpler and much better.
Chris frowned slightly "Im not sure if i like that guy or not.." he admitted, talking about Styx. "and anyway.. if you did get kicked out were did you plan to go?.. as im sure your.. tutor wasn't very happy about getting the sack" he asked wondering what there plan was.. it didn't realy matter if he knew now as they could hardly get themselves kicked out, or at least that's what Beth made it sound like to him.
"Yeah.. i think they knew anyway but they were just waiting for me to admit to it" he confessed then listened to see how Josh was taking it. "Well ive known Jas for like... all my life and she's .. erm.. quiet something. Josh could have done worst but she doesn't seem to want to have anything to do with him either" he told Beth. Part of him wanted to just go to Draco and just tell him to stop the marriage as nobody seemed to want it. Although all this was completely taking his mind off everything that had happend to him recently. Although it was only a matter of time before it all came back to him. "it's more of a hobby than a mission, but i'll admit that you've got a point," beth replied rather truthfully. she blamed it on her parents simply ignoring her whenever she tried to claim their attention, because they'd either excessively yell at her for the tiniest thing, or else shove a pile of galleons into her hands and send her off to hogsmeade to get out of the way. she needed all of the attention to function properly, and she'd found that you got a great deal more for doing something wrong.
"my parents are so ignorant that their possessions are safe and remain unaware that we all have keys to the dalton vault at gringotts. with that much money lying around, where i'd go isn't really an issue." beth did allow a slight laugh as chris mentioned her tutor, and wasn't quite sure whether he was right or not. the adults of the family were always telling them that they weren't teaching it properly, and so the tutor was probably eager to get out of the house as soon as was possible. then again, the pay was rather good, so that might have outweighed the negatives. or might not, beth couldn't say.
"well i can't say i'd be too chuffed if i was in her position either. her mother does a disappearing act and then her father arranges to have her married off to some snob that she's never met." perhaps josh wouldn't appreciate her calling him a snob, but whether he liked it or not, it was true. despite wanting to be so different from their parents, they still shared very similar views on wealth and blood status. for example, beth used the term mudblood by default, and wouldn't dream of saying muggle born unless she held an uncommon respect for the person in question.

Am i more then you bargained for yet? "I always have a point" he said with a small smile, sometimes that was a bad thing though, or at least people like Jaslene told him he should sometimes keep his 'points' to himself but he always had something to add and usualy did. "Well actually you wont end up fully alone.. you'll have your husband, whoever thats going to be.." Chris said he actually found it kind of amusing how she, Josh and Jaslene wee getting put into forced marriages but that was the Slytherin in him, he also felt a bit sorry for them although he didn't have a clue what it was like so he could hardly use the 'i understand what your going through' line.
"Wow.. i cant even imagine what its like to be like that.. my father may have a business but he keeps investing the money he makes back into the business by trying to make new products which he usually doesn't finish" he said with a shrug, Chris would love it if he could just ask his dad for money then get given a big wad of cash, but that just didn't happen in his house, The weasleys may be a well known pure blood family but there not the rich kind. Even if they do have the huge house that is the burrow.
"Just give me the word and i'll kidnap your mother so you know what its like" he joked, he then paused a moment "You just called your twin brother a snob.." he pointed out, not realising if she had noticed that or not. Either way he was going to point it out because that was just what Chris did, point out the obvious. I've been dying to tell you anything you wanna hear. But that's just who i am this week. "not always a valid one, but a point all the same," beth retorted. she was naturally quite a blunt person and not the type to keep her opinions to herself. if she had something to say, she would say it, simple as that. if anyone was offended by what it was that was on her mind, then that was her problem, she really couldn't give a damn. "unfortunately so. is there anybody that hasn't heard about it?" she asked, the last part of her sentence more of a rhetorical question to herself rather than expecting an answer from chris. knowing him, he'd probably come up with one anyway.
"then perhaps you should give him a sharp prod in the stomach and tell him to either finish it or stop wasting money," beth replied. 'no wonder the weasleys are poor when that's what they do with their money,' she added in her head aas an afterthought. if it had been anybody else, she'd have said it right to him, but she couldn't use her large family as an advantage because there were a hell of a lot more weasleys. admittedly most of them were still of school age, but then so were the daltons. it was probably safer for her to keep her opinion to herself at this point, particularly since the two of them seemed to be getting on relatively okay.
"i can't say i'd be quite so displeased as jaslene, you'd be doing me a huge favour if you did kidnap her. saying that, it's my father that's more of a problem." most people thought that the daltons all got along splendidly, but that wasn't the case most of the time. okay, so the children all got on fine, but the adults was a different story. it seemed like everything they did was to make their children's lives a living hell. "he is a snob, i'm a snob, we're all snobs, that should be rather obvious."

Am i more then you bargained for yet? Chris laughed as she spoke rather bluntly, if it was one thing he had to say he liked the most about Beth it was the fact she spoke her mind, plus she'd seemed to pull him out of the mood he had been in. "Your probably right about that" he said, usualy the points he made could be completely invalid but oh well he didnt care. Now Chris new a rhetorical question when he saw one and when he saw one he would always answer "Nope, it seems half the school know more about it then you do" he said with a smirk, there were rumors going around on who it could be but that was going to be rubbish, who said it was even going to be someone from Hogwarts, there were other wizarding schools.
"No way, he'd end up boring, he may be a waste of space but he's my dad and i love him" Chris said honestly then added "Plus give it like a year or two and I'll be in charge of the business and the money will be raking in" Chris knew enough about his fathers business to probably start now but obviously he wasn't going to, he still had Hogwarts time to enjoy.
"Your father gives you any grief he'll have to deal with me" Chris joked putting his fists up in a fighting style pose, obviously he wasn't going to go beat up her dad but still if Beth wanted Chris too then Chris would go and yell at him untill his ears began to bleed. "If you were that much of a snob, would you be talking to a Weasley?" he asked rhetorically, he didnt think the Daltons were that snobby, they were just rich and that doesn't make you a snob.
