and i'm thinking, thinking, thinking, think do you remember when you were young? don't ever think, ever think too much - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - The courtyard was always an interesting place to sit and think. Well, part of that was true. It was a good place to sit and think about anything that happened to be bothering you, but it wasn’t always a place of fascination. But, in some ways, this suited the girl well, seeing as there were plenty of other exciting places that one could go. Today happened to be no exception. The other good thing about the courtyard was that it wasn’t one of the places at the school which was overcrowded to the point that you couldn’t hear the person you were talking to, or in worst cases, you forgot what you were trying to think about. Having been sat on the same bench for about twenty or thirty minutes, she had passed the moment where it wasn’t that comfortable, and was now content to sit there for however much longer she needed to, or at least, until the rain began to fall. There was no point remaining there, if the weather suddenly changed for the worse, and began to soak her. That would have been beyond the realm of stupidity. How weird would she look, sat there, on her own, in the pouring rain? It wasn’t her best look either – sopping wet. Other girls occasionally managed to pull it off, but she didn’t look her best in rainstorms. Not that she really needed to worry about the weather changing rapidly, because, thankfully, it was still early autumn and the weather was still decent at this time of year.
Her gaze dropping to the floor, while her brain processed the repetitive thoughts and emotions, she found herself realising one thing – she’d only been back at Hogwarts for a mere few days, and already she was starting to miss certain people. Well, mostly it was just that one person. Overlooking this, to the best of her ability, she realised she had been daydreaming and staring at the same spot on the ground for about five minutes now. It was a most unsatisfactory habit. Her eyes flickering over the rest of the courtyard made no difference, she still found herself drawn to that same area of the ground. What was so attractive about it, she’d never know. It looked almost identical to every other part of the grass to her. Maybe it had some hidden significance, but the chances of this being the reason were unlikely. To be honest with herself, she didn’t believe there was even a definite reason for her choice of view. Therefore, there was little to no point trying to explain it. As she surveyed the occasional person passing through a nearby hallway, her eyes left the floor, as she heard someone else enter the courtyard. As to who it was, she couldn’t even hazard a guess, but she wasn’t particularly bothered. There was nothing that could spoil her mood when she was like this. Lifting her head to meet the eyes of the approaching person, a small, yet warm smile lit up the rest of her features.

Cat had just arrived at Hogwarts a few days ago and was now currently sitting in an armchair in Gryffindor Common Room. Not much of her friends had left, but it got her to wonder what it would be like with Chris gone and graduated. It made Cat feel sadder than expected. Chris, no matter how annoying he could be, was still one of her favorite people and she couldn't imagine life without him. Of course she could still see him, but it wasn't quite the same as knowing that Chris was only a couple of floors or rooms away. That got Cat wondering about what she would do when she graduated. She had always wanted to be an Auror, the exciting life they lead, or an Unspeakable, the things the learned were fascinating. But she hadn't thought about leaving her family for her new life. It was quite hard to imagine. Nor did Cat want to imagine. Gosh, she was thinking quite a lot today. And it wasn't about even how she would pass Potions. Cat did quite a lot of studying and extra work for the subject, to make it possible for her dream of being an Auror or Unspeakable, but it could become quite annoying after awhile. The very image of herself being a top Auror or Unspeakable was the thing that kept her going, kept her studying. It had a sense of motivation, and motivation was truly what Cat needed. She left the armchair and the Common Room to empty her thoughts about her life after Hogwarts the Courtyard. It was much quieter, less crowded, in the Courtyard and the perfect place to empty out thoughts which you wanted to be emptied of. Cat herself had been there many times. Her feet knew exactly where to go, Cat herself wasn't paying much attention. It was like she was on autopilot. Her thoughts were still deeply thinking about what life as an Auror or Unspeakable would be like. Both seemed interesting, yet they had there negatives. Aurors sometimes got way too scared after retiring and as an Unspeakable you couldn't share your findings with others in general. After thinking of these negatives, Cat was even less unsure about her future. She could really use some advice, if she ever had a chance at getting some. Her feet took a couple more turns, coming even closer and closer to her destination. Once there, Cat saw somebody smile at her. One blink, and she realized it was Jaslene Malfoy. In return, Cat gave a small, warm smile too. Jas was her brother Chris's best friend since the dawn of time, and Cat didn't mind her at all. Sure she could be in a bad mood sometimes, but over all was a good person and could make Cat laugh when she was sad or depressed or something. Cat didn't mind at all that Jas was a Slytherin. Cat herself wasn't prejudice against Slytherins, her brother was a Slytherin, making Cat more open to them all from the very start. She sat down next to Jas and said, "Hey Jas!" Noticing how the sky looked like it might rain soon, Cat made her umbrella noticable. "No worries about the rain. I got an umbrella."Word Count: 541 words Tags: Jas Malfoy Outfit: Umbrella Protection Notes: N/A Credit: (c)Rhea (me). and i'm thinking, thinking, thinking, think do you remember when you were young? don't ever think, ever think too much - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - It was weird now that she thought on it, the idea of being at Hogwarts for just one more year, before she was expected to go out into the real world and find herself a nice, comfortable job which was exciting, and that she enjoyed, but ideally made a reasonable amount of money also. Sadly, it seemed to her that most people with jobs had to compromise to an extent on at least one of these factors. She didn’t want to compromise. She wanted and needed a well-paid job that made her happy, one that he was eager to attend at the start of each new working day. Was that really too much to ask for? Not that it seemed to matter much anymore, seeing as her life details had already been more or less completely decided by her future in-laws. Was she allowed to have her own career? Perhaps they would permit it for a short while before she was expected to provide them with a large number of grandchildren. No, stuff that, she thought, shrugging her shoulders in denial. She wasn’t going to give everything for them; it was bad enough that she had to start making small sacrifices. She wasn’t giving up her whole working life for them as well. No, she ws going to finish her schooling and then get the same job that she had wanted for years. In order to do this, she’d need to do well in education, since the job required a higher level of knowledge that could be gained through further study of Ancient Runes and Arithmancy.
Looking back at the sky, she could not escape the feeling that life at this school felt somehow different to the last year she’d spent here. Still, it wasn’t a bad feeling in itself, it was more of a peculiar feeling without any intrinsic good or bad values to it. One thing was a happy thought however – the idea that anyone who went through what she did in the last few months of her sixth year, with an arranged marriage and a disappearing mother, could still get such good grades in her subjects was a comforting one. Unless something happened in her life that was even more outstanding than these combined events, which she found herself instantly doubting, she would be able to pass the final stage of wizarding exams with reasonable ease. Since exams were just short of highly stressful, especially those ones that could decide what your life was like, it was always a nice thought to be quite confident of passing them. It helped to soothe the res tof the craziness that seemed to be going on as of recently. Still, she wasn’t one to openly complain, well, currently she didn’t feel like complaining. Maybe because doing this was make her appear crazy, as there was nobody else around to listen to her ranting. Basically, she was more than content to remain here, seated in the same sport, for a little while longer. She wasn’t even that bothered about company, although one person more wouldn’t be something that she would object to.
It didn’t matter how anyway. She’d presumed that she would have no company, but already, she had been proven incorrect. Her eyes lit up more, as she recognized the figure of someone that she knew very well indeed. Her eyes flickered from the background to finally settle on the face of her companion. Indicating for the girl to sit down beside her, she was not surprised when she took the imitative to do so. It was obvious that none of that particular branch of Weasleys were stupid. Except maybe her older brother, but secretly, she took pride in being the more intelligent of the pair. Following the direction of the other girl’s eyes, she noticed the umbrella that she had mentioned. Why couldn’t she be practical like this girl? She couldn’t be sensible and chose normal clothing more suitable for autumn weather, no, she had to dress as though it was still twenty-seven degrees outside. It was true that it wasn’t that cold yet, but clearly it was smarter to come with all the precautionary equipment just in case. Grinning at the person sat beside her, she laughed and gave a small nod, as she began to respond, “You were always the one to come prepared, weren’t you, Cat?”
Pointing down to her own choice of clothing, she continued, “Not like me. Of course, I’m merely dressing like this in the hope to encourage the weather to become nicer.” Glancing back at the cloudy sky above them, she frowned momentarily. “Unfortunately, it’s not working as well as I’d hoped.” She was such a bad liar, when faced with someone she knew that well.
