WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE INTEGRITY FOUND WITHIN A FAMILY? I RETURN YOUR GLARE, AND MY BONES ARE CHILLED WITH SOME SORT OF SICKENING RECIPE OF FEAR AND ANGER.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
gwen couldn't believe that she was accepted to be the groundskeeper for hogwarts. i mean, she was just a student not that long ago, and being accepted just like that shocked her a bit. though, she was in no shape to complain. she sat there on a bench thinking over what her duties and work would be. her eyes seemed to be intently focused on the fountain; her eyes watched the water spurt up and fall back down into the pond of water, repeatedly. she pursed her lips while she thought. she would have to look after the school's keys, which she would forever keep safe. escorting the first years was already done, obviously. she thought of all these things that she would have to do, her least favourite being the fact that she has to drag twelve christmas trees to the great hall in december. who was she supposed to do that?! oh, yeah. magic, maybe? or she could just get chris to help her. he'd help her... right?
but that was the only bit that she had the slightest problem with. her favourite parts of her new job would have to be the fact that she was supposed to tend to the magical creatures and tend to the gardens. she was happy with all the responsibility, and she took it all very seriously, though she did enjoy doing most of it. plus, every once and a while, she would see either her best friend walking around or her sister, and she would wave and smile. gwen only talked when she was approached, really, because she knew that they had to get to class. gwen's eyes popped up once a noise disturbed her thoughts. it sounded like something was plopped into the water, and her head turned to see a boy... (or a man?) running off... somewhere. she didn't really feel like stalking them and telling them not to litter or anything, so she just sighed and stood up.
gwen walked over to the fountain and bent over to pick up the shiny piece of metal. once she pulled it out and stood back up, she examined the metal more closely. it resembled the shape of a heart and it irked her a bit. what did that mean? one of those boys must have mistook her for someone else. though, she wasn't wearing a uniform really, one that would make her blend with the others. her lips contorted into something that showed her feelings better. they pursed outwards as she walked back to the bench and sat down in her previous spot. her thumb ran over the metal, feeling all the bumps and how coarsely made it was. hm. but the shape was in a definite heart. gwen bit her lower lip while in thought...

Jenna walked slowly through the courtyard of Hogwarts. She kicked at the ground as she walked, her hands in her pockets and her eyes kept on the ground she kicked. Jenna was one to spend time alone. Most of the time she practiced on her guitar or did something that kept her mind busy, of course when she wasn’t hanging out with her friends Christopher Weasley and Jaslene Malfoy. They were her best friends, if you excluded family. Anyways, she needed to keep her mind on other things, because she was trying to forget about eating. Jenna has been making herself eat less and less each day, just so she would lose weight. She was sick of being fat. At least, that’s what she thought she was, ever since she gave up her virginity to some loser who only claimed to love her. Once he got what he want, he had no problems throwing around insults just to bring her down. First it was just low self esteem issues she had. Then, it became more serious. It turned into Anorexia Nervosa.
Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder, marked by an extreme fear of becoming overweight, that leads to excessive dieting to the point of serious ill-health and sometimes death. Luckily for Jenna, it hasn’t gotten as bad as causing serious health issues. Sure, she has gotten light-headed a couple times and fell down and her condition has gone as far as her making herself throw up after eating something she felt was unhealthy, but she hasn’t passed out totally, and she hasn’t had to be sent to the hospital yet. Thank God that hasn’t happened. She didn’t need any reason to have to tell her family what happened. Because, if she did end up in the hospital, she would definitely have some explaining to do.
Jenna was close to her family, especially her older sister Gwen. She had no problem telling them what goes on in school, and if she had done something she shouldn’t have. But this was different. She wasn’t a virgin anymore. That was something she didn’t know how to explain to her parents, or her siblings. She was more afraid of how they would judge her, rather than actual face contact to tell. As of right now, there was one person she wasn’t afraid to tell and that was Chris. Before you think it’s bad that she won’t tell her own family, but she’ll tell her friend, here’s the reason. Jenna isn’t afraid of Chris because he can’t judge her. Well, he can, but it wouldn’t be right seeing as he has done things in his life that he can’t be proud of.
So, as she strolled through the courtyard, she finally looked up to see her sister sitting on a bench. It looked like she was fascinated by the ring she had in her hand. Jenna ventured up behind the bench and leaned over her sister’s shoulder to get a better view of the ring. “Hm. Look’s like a nice piece of jewelry you got there.” She said, leaning up straight again and laughing lightly as she circled the bench to sit next to her sister. “Hey Gwen.” She smiled slightly, looking over her sister. It was just last year that she had graduated. Now she was the groundskeeper at the school, which meant she would still be able to see her and go to her if she needed to. Jenna was happy to have her sister around.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
she hadn't really seen a lot of people that she knew when she attended hogwarts after graduating. if she did see someone she recognized, well… even if she did recognize people she would never go up and talk to them, and they wouldn't talk to her either. it didn't really hurt her feelings per se, but it made her feel a bit more alone, even though she truly knew she was never really alone. who could complain about being alone with all of these wrackspurts floating about your head? she used her right hand to scratch the top of her head; she turned her head sharply soon after, for she heard a noise. gwen guessed that her and those other people shared a mutual feeling of keeping away from each other. she did have an awful rough time trying to find all of her shoes at the end of the year, last year…
her thumb ran along the edges of the heart and she moved it around her palm, being careful not to drop it. her blank expression couldn't give anyone any hint of what she was thinking, which she would be okay with if she actually saw herself playing out these mannerisms of hers. her eyebrows rose as she saw some sort of etching into the back of the heart. hm. gwen pulled the ring closer to her face to get a good look. it seemed to be a 'x'? …or was it a plus sign? it was too hard to tell.
she wanted to keep it, very much so. though, it felt a bit wrong to do so (it really wasn't her place to keep something that wasn't hers). but, it would be a waste just to throw it away or spend days trying to find the owner… hm. an idea struck gwen, a marvelous, wonderful idea. she would wear the ring and if anyone claimed it to be theirs, she would happily hand it over! that way, she could wear it and feel good about keeping it until claimed. a small smile crossed her face, but as quick as it came it disappeared.
she saw a shadow on the ground, it was the outline of a person. but, gwen mentally shrugged it off as someone just merely passing by. then, a voice came from nowhere. gwen gasped; the ring flew from her hand and onto the grass. she calmed down once she turned her head in the direction of where the person was moving. it was her sister. oh. well. that was slightly embarrassing. gwen smiled brightly at her sister and she bent over to pick up the ring. “oh… hey jenna,”
[/b] her voice cracked a bit, and she immediately pulled up a loose fist to cover her mouth as she coughed. her fist unclenched and lowered to where it rested on her knee, “it's nice to finally see you about… say,”[/b] she paused, putting her arm around her sister's shoulders, “…we need to hang out sometime. you know… unless you're embarrased to be seen with me now.”[/b] gwen casually winked at her sister and showed her pearly whites. Jenna let out a soft giggle at her sister when she gasped and dropped the ring. Gwen was so jumpy sometimes. She didn’t understand why, but it didn’t matter. She watched as Gwen picked up the ring and smiled when she caught a glance from her sister. It wasn’t too often that she got to see Gwen. Sure, they’d see each other around school, but a lot of the time she was on her way to class and didn’t have time to stop and talk. It really sucked to not be able to talk to your family as much as you wanted to. She didn’t see her brother as much either because he was in Ravenclaw and she was a Gryffindor. He was also a first year and she was in her sixth. They didn’t have the same classes.
When Gwen put her arm around her, Jenna smiled again at her sister. She loved her family. They were all awesome. A lot of people thought that Gwen was nuts. Yeah, she had her moments where she wasn’t all there, but Gwen was anything but nuts. It was funny how similar she was to their mom though. Their mom was amazing. She was different too, but she was nice. No one could take her place. Ever. Her brother was nice to be around too. She was really protective over him seeing that he was so much younger than her. Age didn’t really matter though. She loved hanging out with her brother. Last was her father. She always felt like she was the closest to him. She had the best father in the world. It wasn’t just because he was famous either. He was just awesome. She loved to be around him and she knew she could go to him about anything. Except one thing.
Jenna didn’t know why it was so hard to confront her family about what was going on in her life. She trusted them fully and she loved them. She was afraid of judgment, but she didn’t know why she felt like they would judge her. She knew they would be upset. It was common for parents to be upset over things like that. She just didn’t want to see the disappointment. There would definitely be disappointment written all over her parents faces if she told them. She was fooled by some boy and she shouldn’t have been. She was smarter than that. At the time she wasn’t. She acted on feelings more than she did on instinct.
She laughed once again at her sister. “Gwen you know I would not be embarrassed to hang out with you. You’re my sister.” She looked down at Gwen’s clenched fist with curiosity. “Where did you get that ring anyways?” Jenna wasn’t sure if her sister had some type of admirer or what. She wasn’t around enough to know those things. It would be cute if Gwen found someone. She felt it would be just what her sister needed. Anyways, she just wanted to know where the ring came from.

gwen shrugged at her sister’s comment. she was fully aware that she was not the ‘coolest’ sister ever, really. “there are plenty of siblings who are embarrassed by each other, jenna,”
[/b] she said. of course gwen wasn’t embarrassed by jenna, if anything jenna was way more popular than gwen ever was, not to mention she was very talented. it always amused her when jenna would try to teach her how to sing, but it would fail horribly. gwen just couldn’t carry a tune, or keep her voice in tune for that matter. so, the most singing gwen ever did was just a simply hum to herself, and even that wasn’t so… lovely on the ears. she looked over at jenna with a smaller smile this time. she pulled her arm away from jenna and unclenched her fist. the ring glimmered from the sunlight, which caused a glare. gwen pulled the ring closer to her face so that she could look at it better. “oh…,” she said, quietly, “…i… uh… picked it up from inside the fountain.” it wasn’t until soon after she had spoken, she realized how wacky that sounded. “uh… this person, it looked like a male… threw this into the fountain and ran off… i didn’t get a good look at him.” little did she know that the statement before sounded less wacky that the other. gwen flipped the ring over with her fingers to see the x again… or plus sign… or lowercase t… or, well, whatever it was. did it mean anything? was it an initial, if anything? hm. the ring wasn’t that big, and it looked as if it could fit gwen’s ring finger. she really couldn’t think of any girls who’s names started with a t… so she just shrugged and slipped the ring onto her right ring finger. gwen held her right hand in the air in front of her, as if she were admiring it. “i… know it’s not mine, but it’s so… pretty,”[/b] she said, feeling a bit of guilt consume her. “i know that if i find the owner, i’ll have to hand it over…,”[/b] which, she really didn’t have a problem with. after all, it was the right thing to do. her eyes glanced back over at jenna. she wondered what she thought about it. gwen wanted to set a good example for jenna, always, even though jenna was clearly developing into a smart, young woman. it was as if gwen had the persona of a mother when it came to jenna, though she never had reason to lecture her; even if she did have reason, gwen probably wouldn’t. she was more of the type who would question and wonder, rather than correct.
