Regardless of how many years one spent at Hogwarts, it still seemed surprising at how much work was given out merely in the first few weeks of being back in the building again. If one was unaccustomed to the idea of this much work, it might have been even more overwhelming. Fortunately, it was quite easy to organize, if one put their mind to it. Unfortunately, it meant that you had to sacrifice some of your free time in order to delegate specific time periods to each subject that you studied. Or maybe you didn’t. This was just the method that she had employed over the last six years, and seeing as it had worked pretty well over this time, she wasn’t about to change this technique. Besides, it was evident to her that she couldn’t afford to start changing the simple stuff when there was so much else on her mind. To change the simple things at this moment in time would be to commit herself to other problems that she probably couldn’t handle. Not that this made much difference really. Whether her life was hectic or not, it had always been a well-known fact that she didn’t like change. That was one of the things that made her stress every time. It wasn’t helpful in any situation, let alone in important ones like the organization of her workload.
As one might have noticed through her madness, she had a need for things to be organized and easy to comprehend, when she was working. She was alright with it otherwise, but she just couldn’t deal with chaos when she was trying to concentrate. She couldn’t see how anyone else could manage in these kinds of conditions either. Did they just sit there and ignore the mess? Since she was easily distracted, a chaotic room would easily make her avoid doing anything of use. It was better for all intents and purposes that she retained a tidy and squeaky clean room. It was weird, perhaps, to anyone else, that someone could care so much about the state of a room surrounding them, let alone when they had other things to worry about. Since she had this quality, she could often be found sitting in the library, since this was one of the rooms at the school that rarely ever failed to meet her needs. It was always spotless, neat and to her delight, quiet. Just the type of room that was suitable for her to study in. And as her head was already swimming with countless random thoughts, she believed there was nothing better for her than to try and remove the useless ones from her mind.
It might have been difficult to identify which of the many thoughts were useful and which were not, but she wasn’t worried about this particular task. She was far more confident in her ability to do this than she was in her abilities to do much of the other things she would be required to do in a few short months. Touching the roof of her mouth with her tongue, she frowned, as though troubled by someone that appeared to be invisible and picked up one of the books that she had been staring at for the last few minutes. Turning over the next few pages, she glanced down at the words and began to read. Grabbing the nearest writing implement, she began to scribble notes on the piece of parchment she had placed on the small table.
