Was it right for her to be spying? No. Was she doing it anyways? Yes she was. Isabella didn't care that it wasn't right to spy and eavesdrop on her sister and her fiance. She wanted to know what was going down, and she knew that today was the day Beth was meeting him. Really, Izzy felt bad for her sister. No one deserves to be forced to marry someone they don't love. And deep down, Izzy knew that one day the same thing would happen to her. She didn't want it to happen, and she knew that when that time came, she would fight it, but that wasn't what she had to worry about now.
When Beth and Chris started dating, Isabella absolutely hated it. For a while she hated a few people including those mentioned above. It was mainly because she had a huge crush on Chris and she couldn't believer her sister was dating him. And she wasn't told they were dating before she told him she liked him. Therefore she felt like a fool and Isabella, hated feeling like a fool. Now, it wasn't like that. She sympathized for her sister, and she wanted her to be happy. She realized that just recently. It took a while to realize it, but she did. So, she came up with a plan to try and stop it.
Hearing footsteps stomping her way, she ran around the corner and peered out to see Beth leaving. It was kind of obvious that she was going to do that. She always lost her temper. But now was her chance to begin her plan, and hopefully it would work. Pulling out the pollyjuice potion she made, she took a sip and just stood there, waiting for the change. It didn't take long before her hair started turning a golden blonde instead of her natural brown and she started to grow in height. Soon, her body took the form of her sister. She gave it a couple of minutes. Not only because she wanted to make sure it totally finished forming her, but because she wanted to make it seem real. Beth wouldn't just walk right back in. She had to make it seem like she took a couple minutes to calm down, and then go back.
Taking a deep breath, she started into the room. She was ready to take on her sister's attitude, but at the same time act calm. "Look, I apologize for my temper. It always gets the best of me." Izzy said, adding a slight hint of annoyance and attitude to her voice. She didn't want to be mean, but she had to act like Beth and she knew Beth hated him. Izzy decided to wait to hear what Byron had to say, before she continued on with the actual reason why she was there.

Byron had been told many things by her parents about Bethany Dalton over the past few months of letters. They'd corresponded a little so that he knew what he was getting into when he finally agreed to this marriage. He didn't want her to turn out to be some sort of whack job, like that Bellatrix Lestrange. She was a right nutter. Had sense enough to choose the dark side, but other than that, it seemed all sense had gone out of the window, from what he'd heard about her. She was long gone, anyway. So were the Blacks, now, which was unfortunate, although from what he understood of their tree, their last living relation was Teddy Lupin. He could have been very wrong about that, as his energies were focused on the Dalton family tree. He studied this until he memorized it, and was sure that they were respectable, blood pure and perfect for combining with the Nott family. Combining. As if they were just getting stuck together. Of course combining meant that Byron and Bethany would have a child that carried the blood of both. It didn't look likely at this very moment, and he wondered if he'd been studying some other family, and writing to them too. They'd said that Bethany was beautiful, true, but they'd also said that she was respectable, reasonable and smart. The smart part seemed good, but the other two words seemed way off base. Maybe she was just upset and would show the real Bethany later? Yeah, when hell froze over.
"Actually, you will find that I've only been told good things about you, but now I see why that is! Your parents would be hard pressed to find you a husband if they didn't spin off lies about you being well mannered, well tempered and reasonable."
he spat out, angry that she was reacting so badly. Why did she have to take it out on him? He wasn't the one making her go through with it. He didn't really want to go through with it himself, but then his parents had agreed that this was too good a chance to pass up. He knew, just as well as they did that the adult Dalton members were well respected within the ranks of the Nex Domino, so with them came more influence and power, and that was always there in the Nott's book of amazing things. He needed to calm down, raising his voice in a strangers house was beyond reproach. "Miss Dalton." he started calmly, taking a deep breath. But she didn't seem to hear him. She was ranting on and on about what you'd suppose parents would want. He wanted to stop her and tell her that they were only looking out for her best interests, but they weren't. They were looking out for the best interests of the family unit as a whole, he knew that. He also knew that there were many differences between Bethany and himself, but there were also many similarities. Both were stubborn, both were smart, both were ambitious and both wanted more for themselves than being stuck in a loveless marriage just to bind the two families together. He would love to be in love with the one that he married, but they were in no fairytale. Bethany seemed to be entertaining the notion that she could still get out of this and marry whoever she liked. That was another huge difference between himself and her. He accepted things like arranged marriage, whilst she seemed to fight tooth and claw against it. She fought her parents every step of the way if she didn't want to do something, where as Byron would smile placidly and agree to do whatever it took to make them proud of him. He was in the Nex Domino, he was a good teacher, he was influential, good looking, smart, proud and he gave off one of the best appearances for his family. He was the golden boy, the prodigal child that did whatever it took, no matter how many of his dreams he'd have to sacrifice. Love was just another dream that went out of the window. Besides, there was always a chance that he would eventually grow to love here. Maybe. Though he didn't know if he wanted to after this performance. All of those things she was saying were true. "Miss Dalton parents care about one thing, and that's advancing the family and keeping the bloodline pure and alive. You will also do well to recognise and accept that whilst you have the chance" he said exasperatedly, finally glad to get a word in. Her mini rant seemed to be over. And out came the spoiled child's personality once more. That was just how he'd expect a child to react when they were told that they couldn't have something, but had to have something else. Was she with someone? Adultery! Well. Almost. Case for divorce though, not that he'd ever put his family's name through that. If he did he could imagine the insults. Couldn't keep the girl, couldn't carry on the name, couldn't tame the famous Dalton spirit. Never would he allow his name to be dragged around like that, for his family's sake. "You're in love." Byron said, confused. Why would else act like this, right? He felt envious if that was it, but he understood that he couldn't have that, he had to do what his parents wanted, he had to make them proud, and carry on the name. It was terrible, really, that parents were living their lives again through their children, and he'd never do it, but he would try and make sure that his children made good choices when it came to who they married. Of course there would be consequences if they didn't, so if he had to take things into his own hands... he didn't want to think about that right now. Oh, wow, she'd armed herself. Was she going to attempt to kill him with that shoe? Should he disarm her? Would that even work? He'd never tried it but he doubted that expelliarmus would do anything to the shoe in her hand. Worth a try though. Probably not the best time to retaliate but he didn't care. "No Miss Dalton, how dare you. You've forgotten yourself it seems and I've tried to remind you, but it seems that you're not a Dalton, but Bethany, and who says that you deserve respect. Earn it." he replied, keeping his tone level, but it was slightly shaky from anger. He couldn't believe that he'd come into their home to be verbally attacked, and also maybe physically attacked the way it was going. But it seemed she just stormed out, and he let out a weary sigh. What the hell was he going to do? He liked a challenge and all but this was like trying to win the Quidditch cup, as one person against a whole team. He'd never do it. But he'd try. Byron spent the next few moments pacing around the room, to get his temper back in check. Surely someone would come to speak to him, if not Bethany then her mother would. As if on cue, the door opened and Byron turned to observe Bethany coming in through the door. He heard her words and frowned. Her attitude was there, but he didn't really sense the anger. Had her mother talked to her and forced her to come back. "An apology means nothing unless you mean it, Bethany, has your mother told you to come back and say that?" He asked, raising his eyebrows. She'd made him feel small, and that was a huge task considering who he was. "I am shocked, needless to say, about how you acted. I am a man, a teacher, and your future husband and I do not like being yelled at. I also do not appreciate having to talk to you like you are a student, I have enough of that at Hogwarts, and I do not expect it when I visit my fiancée. But if you continue to act like a twelve year old child, then I will talk to you like you are one. Personally, I expected much more maturity from you, and also a desire to appear charming, for that's what you need to get ahead in life. Charm, brains and maturity. Acceptance is also a good one, you should learn to accept the things that you cannot change. Like the fact that we are arranged to be married." He lectured, crossing his arms and looking disappointed, a trick that he always used in school. It was brilliant for evoking guilt. Isabella shifted nervously, for she was indeed afraid of what might happen. Questions just continued to form in her head. What if her plan didn't work? Or, what if neither plan worked? Because she did have a back up, in case the first one didn't go as planned. Also, what if the potion wore off and he found out it was actually her. She had met him before, at Hogwarts, since he is a teacher. He wasn't her teacher, but she had seen him around and had a few words, if any. She just wanted it to go right, and to finally let Beth choose who she wanted. No one in the family would probably ever get this opportunity again. It was sad to think that her parents would put them all into arranged marriages. It was understandable that they wanted good people for their children, and they wanted the bloodline to continue, but wasn't it enough that their children would be happy? The bloodline thing would happen no matter what. Unless of course, someone was infertile. But even with that, their parents don't know if the guy they are choosing is able to have kids or not.
Staying in character she rolled her eyes. "You don't have to accept the apology, just feel lucky that you got one, because they don't come often from this Dalton." She told him, crossing her arms. She listened to the rest of what he had to say and with every word he spoke, she started to grow a bit angry each time. She was starting to feel what her sister did. She didn't know if it was because she grew up with her and she rubbed off on Izzy, or if it was her own temper coming out. Either way, she had to be careful. If she got too much of an attitude with him, he would definitely not even consider her offer.
It was probably mostly the fact that he was talking bad about her sister. Isabella knew for a fact Bethany did not act like a little kid. She was angry and when Beth was angry, it showed no matter who you were. Beth was never one to hide her feelings, unless it was those feelings of liking someone or being sad. But, she expressed her anger quite a lot. Bethany was definitely not acting immature. It was her personality, and truthfully if you didn't like it, you didn't have to be around it. It wasn't Bethany's choice to marry Byron, but it was Byron's choice to accept the marriage. So, he should accept what he got himself into. Of course, he wouldn't have to accept it this time, if he accepted Isabellas offer.
"I do not act like a child, Bryon. I'm furious. You would not like it if your parents threw you into an arranged marriage. You had choice in this matter." Isabella told him, still slightly angry, but sounding more mature than she ever has before. For once, she sounded quite sane, even though she was mad. A lot of the time, when Isabella was mad, she would go off on someone and sometimes, it made no sense. But this was serious. The best thing for her to do was keep a clear head. Now it was time for her to use her maturity to persuade him to give Beth time. If he said no, she had to use the back up plan, but hopefully it wouldn't go that far.
"Byron, I would like to ask a favor of you." She started, unfolding her arms and stepping closer to him, to close in some, but not all of, the distance between them. She thought for a moment on how to just come out and ask, but there was no time to waste. "Bryon, please give me six months to find someone my parents will accept." She searched for answers, but before anything could be said, she added. "If I don't I'll just settle for you." Regret. That was what she felt. She should have waited until she said something else. What if he took her last statement the wrong way? "Please let this go right." Isabella thought to herself.

Byron was slightly annoyed, truth be told, that this girl thought that she could speak to him like this. She was younger than him, and he was a teacher! Surely that demanded some respect, and adds that to the fact that he was a Nott, child, from the well respected and high up pure blood family, the respect that she showed him should have been copious, but here she was, not even talking to him properly! He was trying to help them out by continuing their pure blood line, and here she was, throwing it back in her face! He understood that she didn't want to marry him, and as pretty as she was, she wouldn't have been his first choice of bride either, but she was the first choice for his parents and he was determined to do anything to make them proud, even though it meant sacrificing a chance at love to do this for them. He'd made many sacrifices for his parents, and he was not going to ruin all of that by refusing to marry Bethany. He would marry a well respected, pure blooded Dalton girl, just like he'd promised his parents. Why were parents content on sacrificing their child’s happiness like this? He would never do it. But at the same time, he felt the need to please his parents.
"Well, love, that will change because you will award me an apology whenever I deserve one."
he added, standing tall and proud, and trying to look as resolute as he felt. His mind was made up. He was going to do this. He never broke promises to his parents and he wasn't about to start now. She would be a proud, pure blooded, beautiful, devout and obedient wife, whether she liked it or not. Looking at her, he doubted this, but he would make sure that she ended up that way, or they would have problems. "With respect, Miss Dalton, you know nothing about my family or my parents, nor the decisions that they make for me. I promised them that I would marry a pure blooded Dalton girl, just like they wanted, because it was what they wanted, so it will happen. You should learn to do what your parents want as well, because it will do you good." he added firmly, but calmly, and his tone was soft now, not angry or accusing, he was trying to make sure she didn't storm out again. That would not look good, having her leave twice during their first meeting. And as we all know, the Nott family were very careful about appearance. Byron didn't really have a choice. He'd been called to his parents’ house, and found that they'd been writing with the Dalton adults for quite some time. They showed him every letter and presented him with the opportunity to marry the eldest Dalton girl. They'd made it perfectly clear that they wanted him to say yes, because combining the two families meant maximum respect and a definite continuance of their pure blood line, keeping the name in tact, and the blood as pure as ever. His children stood, if he married Bethany, to be well respected and have a lot of power and influence, considering the two families that they came from, and his parents clearly loved that idea, so he felt forced and pressured into saying yes. By the nature of the letters, he had no choice anyway, his parents had practically agreed on his behalf, and so any chance of him being with someone he loved went out of the window then. He would marry a Dalton and that was that. All of this pressure was too much, but being the type of man that he was, Byron took it all upon his own shoulders and kept on walking. He was always good at handling pressure. A favour? She wanted a favour after the way that she'd acted? Why should he give her this favour? "What is it?" he asked, wondering what it was that she dared to ask of him, after speaking to him like he was nothing. He was the eldest Nott son, and he was going to do his damnedest to make sure that everyone understood the respect that he should be shown because of that. He crossed his arms and sat down in the chair, and before he could answer, he caught her last few words. "Settle for me? Settle? HA! I am a catch, young lady. I am a pure blooded, literate, well respected teacher at Hogwarts School. Not to mention the fact that I am good looking and charming. I am a catch, and you call it settling for me? You are lucky to have this chance! I will not grant your favour, why should I? Why should I give you six months to worm your way out of this marriage, or to run away? Ridiculous. No." he answered, rolling his eyes. Who did she think she was? Who did she think she was talking to? Isabella scoffed at the man. If she was truly Beth, she would be yelling at him instead of just scoffing. She wanted to say something about him thinking he could change her, but she couldn't believe what he was saying. Basically he was sacrificing his happiness for his parents. It kind of reminded her of how she was sacrificing hers for Beth. But at the same time it was different. If it was her parents pushing her into this, she would be fighting back, but this was her choice. She was fighting for her sister's happiness and she wasn't going to stop until that goal was reached. She was stubborn and it was very hard for someone to change her mind.
One thing that didn't change about her mindset though was the fact that this was indeed his choice, like she had said, when she was trying to defend herself. Of course, it was Isabellas choice to do this, but it was not Bethany's. So when she did say it was not her choice, she wasn't lying because she was trying to be her sister. Isabella could never fully take on her sisters personality though because she was not her. Bethany was a complicated character and a unique one at that.
Damn. Was basically what she was thinking next. Isabella had indeed messed up, and the next thing she knew, he was lecturing her about how good he was and how lucky she was to get married to him. She couldn't help the fact she said what she had. She was searching for things to say, and she was nervous as it was. She wanted everything to work out, and right now, it wasn't going as planned, all because she said something stupid. She had to turn it around. Was there any way to do that.
She looked down for a moment only to see that her hair was starting to change back. "No!" She started to yell out, but covered her mouth to cut some of the sound. It was too early. She didn't have time to convince him as Beth. She was starting to freak out, and she looked up at him, now terrified. "Byron, please." She pleaded, her hand that was just covering her mouth holding the part of her hair that was once agian brown. For some reason, her potion didn't fully take effect. Usually it lasted for an hour, but it definitely did not last that long. She must have done something wrong.
But it was too late, for she couldn't cover all that was changed now. She closed her eyes as she let the transformation take its toll. She couldn't stop it, so why fight it? What was he going to think though? Would he think she was also acting like a child, because she was younger than Beth? Soon, she was back to normal, and all she could do was stare at him. She didn't show a terrified look anymore, but she was trying to search for any sign that he might freak out on her. All she could do now was wait to see his reaction.

This wasn’t right. She seemed different. Her mother must have really had a good go at her and practically forced her back in to apologise. Now she was just huffing and puffing, but before she probably would have had a big argument with him and shouted till her throat was sore. She didn’t seem the type to give up easily, and yet here she was, grinning and bearing it. So to speak. Although he'd not really seen her smile, which was odd, considering his good looks and all. His charm usually had many people grinning, and yet here she was, angry as ever. At least she wasn't hurting his ears, although he kind of preferred her yelling to her silence, because he never knew what she could have been planning in that amazing brain of hers. He didn't doubt her capabilities, not after meeting her parents. They were two of the most cunning and manipulative, and also quite scary, people that he'd ever met. They had that air of authority about them, and that made most people want to jump out of the way. He had that on occasion, although he'd dressed down and tried to leave that behind today as to create a less awkward atmosphere.
The atmosphere would have been bad enough because they were in an arranged marriage, and he'd been a trainee teacher at the school whilst she was there, so that probably added to the awkwardness. Add that to the fact that she seemed completely against the marriage no matter what he had to say, and it was a completely awkward place to be for him. He didn't want it to be that way, but then things didn't always turn out like he wanted. Although most of the time it did. Shame that this was the exception. Oh well, deal with the hand you were dealt and all that. He could handle it after all, he was amazing at handling everything, from pressure to shock to anger to fear. The only thing he wasn't great at handling was love. He never was. He would give his all in a relationship, but he feared he'd lose himself and so he'd always hold back. Love was something he'd always wanted however, but his parents had wanted something differently, and being the obedient son that he was, he gave into their wants and agreed to marry Bethany. He had to admit that he thought she'd be a little more grateful of who she'd gotten. She could have done much worse. There were blood traitors out there in the world, like those Weasley’s. He hadn't forgotten everything his parents had told him about them.
Meanwhile, he was a catch, compared to their children. Especially that rule breaking annoying child who's name Byron couldn't remember, regardless of the amount of times he'd heard about his achievements. Byron, however, had been an amazing student, who was intelligent and studious and kept within the rules, and always helped out the teachers and students of his house whenever he could. Not to mention that he was the perfect pure blood. He was good looking, intelligent, ambitious, careful, thoughtful, conscious of everything around him, pretty great at magic, considering, and he was good looking. Oh, was that mentioned previously? Well, it deserved mentioning twice because it was doubly true. He was everything that the Dalton family could want as a son in law, and he was the very best that was on offer, so Bethany should have been very happy with who he was. Especially because he was good looking. He was also argumentative, hated losing, was stubborn, and a people and parent pleaser. He lived to make people happy, especially his parents, regardless of whether it meant sacrificing his dreams or not. At least he was in the profession he wanted to be in and he was also alligned with the right people. Nex Domino were the best choice, everyone would learn that eventually.
Just like he was the best choice that the Dalton's had seen, because he was, in general, the best choice. He was in the middle of telling Bethany this, when she let out a terrified word, and Byron stared at her in awe. Why was she so scared? Why was she so- brown?! Her hair wasn't brown a moment ago, it was blond! What kind of joke was this? What was going on? "What's wrong with your hair? Why are you shrinking?"
he asked, confused, but he wasn't confused for much longer. He realised then that this girl was under the effects of a polyjuice potion. When she was completely herself again, whoever that was, Byron stared at her. "What in Merlin's name is going on? Did Bethany put you up to this? Where is my fiancee?" he asked, bewildered. He'd had a feeling something was wrong. And who was this girl that Bethany had shrunk into? And how old was she? Twelve? "Who exactly are you?" he asked, confused. He recognised her, she went to Hogwarts, but he just couldn't remember her name for the life of him [/blockquote][/blockquote] t a g g i n g bethany dalton l y r i c s superman - joe brooks n o t e whoo for epic plottage! c l o t h e s hurrw o r d s 850. c r e d i t what a dork ! of caution

Anyone who cared about Isabella would be trying to stop her plan or at least trying to convince her not to do it. That is exactly why she didn‘t tell anyone. She also didn‘t want to involve anyone else in the situation, except for those who were already involved, in case it went wrong. They didn‘t even know though, because they would probably try to stop her too even though it was supposed to help them. She especially didn’t want her brother Joshua to know. If he knew what she was trying to do, he would definitely try to stop her. She would tell him after it was done, if anything were to happen, but for now, it was her secret.
Isabella never had many secrets, she only had one, but that was already out. The only secret she has had was when she fell for one Christopher Weasley, which just so happens to be the boy her sister was dating. She ended up telling him she liked him, only to find out he was dating her sister. She didn‘t even know, and she wouldn‘t have told him if she knew. It made her feel like a fool, and it took her a while to get over it, but she did. Now she was trying to help the two. She realized she wanted nothing more than for them to be happy. It just so happens, her happiness was the price to pay, but she was willing to sacrifice it. That doesn‘t mean she didn‘t want to do it though. She still had a few doubts, and she was completely scared, but she wasn‘t going to give up. If she had any other secrets, they weren‘t her own. They were secrets her friends and family told her. Those she would never tell, because they were not hers to tell. Now she had this one, but she knew for a fact it would come out soon, but not until it was over. Her plan that is. Of course, if it worked.
Speaking of her plan, it was going horribly wrong at the moment. She was hoping to get him to agree to a six month extension for Beth to get her parents to approve of Chris, but that was now down the drain. She messed that up real good without even meaning to. Now she had to bring up plan B, which really meant she was sacrificing herself. How was she going to convince him that he needed to let Beth go and take her instead? Would he even consider that? She was a lot younger than him. Isabella was finding herself zoning out, and she soon snapped back to hear his questions. He was indeed freaking out, as she expected.
She shook her head and took a step forward. “No, Byron… I mean, Mr. Nott, Bethany knows nothing about this.” She assured him, her voice calm and sure of what she was saying. She also switched to calling him Mr. Nott now, because she was no longer pretending to be Bethany. She was now one of his students. “Bethany has left.” She let out a small sigh and then let a small smile come across her lips. It was fake, but she thought it might lighten the mood. “My name is Isabella Dalton, Sir. I am Bethany‘s younger sister.” Maybe it was time to get it out. Ask him what she needed to. The sooner was probably the better.
“Alright, I know you might not accept this, but it‘s better to try and fail, than to not try at all, right? Because then you are just a failure with no dignity. At least that‘s what I think. I mean, why not try when something good can happen and what you want to achieve could possibly be achieved,” She started, she stopped for a moment and let out a breath. After all, she didn‘t breathe between any of that. “I‘m sorry, I should just get to the point instead of rambling like an idiot,” She laughed nervously. “Okay, here is what I really meant to say. My sister. She is a good person even though she can be quite the bitch sometimes. The thing is, I have never seen her as happy as she is now. In fact, I don‘t think she has ever been happy. You see, Sir, she… loves someone and by marrying you, she has to let him go, but I don‘t want that to happen to her.” Her face was now filled with concern and sympathy for her sister. No longer did a smile lay upon her face. “I am asking you kindly, to take me instead. Let my sister live her life with happiness. I am a Dalton, therefore you are still marrying a pureblooded Dalton girl. And I promise, I will not fight or give you any trouble. Just, let her go. Please.”

There were many things about Byron that people didn't know. He was proud, some called him arrogant, and others said that he wouldn't give the time of day to anyone that he deemed wasn't worth his time. Not all of that was true. He was proud, and he could be arrogant, but there was so much more to him. Sure, he was a stubborn arse at times too. But one thing about Byron that people didn't realise was that he was a great believer in love. He wished so much that he would love someone so much as to sacrifice his happiness for theirs. In a way, he already did and he just didn't realise it. After all, hadn't his love and respect for his parents led him to honouring their decisions instead of ones that he'd make himself? He just wished that he loved someone so much in a romantic way. He knew though that it was probably a huge myth, something invented by card companies to go along with valentines day and provide people with more excuses to buy their lover gifts, like those giant expensive bears that had a huge heart with them, and all that.
He'd seen them as he'd passed by the muggle shops in London, heading to the ministry for a visit in the past. He couldn't even remember why he was there now, but he remembered all the silly toys that he, deep, deep down, wished that he had someone to buy them for. But he didn't, and although his marriage wasn't one of love, it didn't mean that it could have mutual respect, some admiration, an understanding, and most importantly, some niceties, because otherwise it would be a marriage reminiscent of someone's time in hell. He wasn't going to let that happen. But then, himself and Bethany hadn't gotten off to the best start. She seemed to stubborn to give in, and he was the very same, meaning that the amount of conflict between them could be deadly. It looked as if the marriage was headed that way before the vows had been said. Unless he married Isabella. They'd gotten off to a better start. She seemed to be able to keep her anger in check and she'd at least been a little more respectful and civil. She seemed quite proud of her blood too, that was good. And it wasn't as if she wasn't already pretty. Besides, she'd probably grow up to be even more beautiful than her sister.
"Does anyone know about this? Or have you gone behind your families backs to orchestrate this whole plan?"
he asked. He'd be impressed if she was able to keep everything from them. He'd found it hard to keep things from his family, especially his family. He couldn't believe that he was considering this. She had a lot of guts to try this. And she'd brewed an advanced potion, meaning that she had to be at least good at that. Smart enough to think of the plan. Bold enough to carry on with the plan. Opportunistic to take any chance that she could to make sure it happened. She was stronger than he'd thought. Personality wise of course. Would her family agree though? He could propose it. Ah. A man. That was why this all was happening. Bethany had found someone. In this crazy moment, Byron Nott was envious of Bethany Dalton. Why? Not because she was rich, pure blooded, beautiful and desirable. He was all these things, (even though beautiful wasn't the word he'd use, it wasn't very manly. Charming. Handsome. Good looking. Yes, he was all of these). "I take it that your parent does not know about this love of Bethany's?" he asked, sighing. He took a seat and watched Izzy with curiosity, all of these thoughts and ideas going around in his head. It was a big decision. "It is lovely to meet you, Isabella, even under these circumstances." He couldn't believe that this was happening. Byron had come here today to meet Bethany Dalton officially, and see how well that they got on. They were to be married. That was still on at the moment. Unless he took Isabella's proposal. Unless he listened to her reasoning. Unless he made a decision for his future that was not influenced by his parents. Suddenly he had a slight urge to say 'sure'. He didn't make many decisions for his own life, he usually took into account his parents wishes. His decision to become a teacher was a mix of both of their wishes, but the marriage to Bethany was being pushed forward by them. With Isabella he'd gain a good few years before he would marry her. That meant a few more years to get himself sorted. Sounded like a good idea. In theory. "I have spent my whole life wishing that i loved someone enough to sacrifice my own happiness for theirs. it seems that you love your sister like that, and i find that is an admirable quality. the fact that you managed to brew what looked like a polyjuice potion is evidence that you are smart and skilled in potions. your blood is pure, as pure and as old as they get. you have guts and determination. the fact that you've planned this all, and made it happen no matter what tells me that. and you're also quite the opportunist, taking any chance that you got when bethany left the room. i admire all of these qualities. I also like to think that although life isn't fair, I am. I wouldn't like it if someone asked me to give up the person that i loved and marry them, and i certainly won't ask that of bethany" he spoke, reasoning it all aloud for the first time. Every thing had already passed through his head a hundred times. It would do him good to hear it all said aloud. "How old are you, Isabella?" Byron asked, fairly sure that she was a fifth year, but he wanted to be sure. "You really want this for her, don't you?" he asked, hearing the slight desperation for her plan to work, it was in her voice. Isabella couldn‘t believe how calm he was now. She thought he was going to yell at her and tell her how stupid she was for doing this, but no, he didn‘t yell at all. She heard how snippy he got with Beth when she was giving him attitude. Isabella didn‘t necessarily give him attitude, when she was herself of course, but because of the fact that she pretended to be Beth, and tried to get her out of a marriage their parents set up, she thought he would think she was childish. After all, she was younger than him, by a good amount of years. He was also a teacher and her a student. So, she wouldn‘t think any less of the man if he thought of her as a child. She wouldn‘t be pleased about it, but she wouldn‘t hate him, just his thoughts.
Izzy was anything but a child, any person could see that. She was intelligent, advanced for her years, and knew how to handle certain situations, such as ones like this. She wasn‘t planning on the potion wearing off, but she came up with a plan just in case something went wrong, and it looked like it worked. To be honest she was proud of herself, even though she put herself in a position where she was now scared. She was not scared of Byron, or her family. Not even the adults, when they could be monstrous at times. But she was scared of the marriage. She was putting her happiness on hold, to let her sister be with the one she loved. Isabella was going to be stuck with a man she knew nothing about. She hadn‘t even been in a relationship before this. Never had her first kiss. All she knew was what it felt like to deeply like someone, which happened to be the one her sister was with. She still cared for Chris, even slightly more than a friend, but she would never let it take her over again. She was done with worrying about him liking her. She had moved on.
“I set this up myself Sir. No one knew about it.” She told him, looking him straight in the eye. There was no room for shyness in this situation. She had come too far now to act like she didn‘t want this. Of course, she didn‘t want it for herself, but she did for her sister. She came to far to start acting like a child. She needed to be mature about this, and talk like a woman. This was a man to woman conversation, not a man to child. Well, technically she was a young woman. Not quite eighteen yet, so she wasn‘t an adult. She also had to prove that she was proud of herself. Not many people would sacrifice all they could have to saving something that could be for someone else. That‘s what set her aside from many people. She did everything she could to protect and help the ones she loved.
She gave a small shake of her head and sighed. “No, our parents do not know about Bethany‘s boyfriend. They would stop it, in some way.” She told him in confidence. None of the adults knew about relationships that went on. The Dalton children didn‘t want anything to happen and they also didn‘t want to leave that relationship. “Please don‘t tell anyone. I beg you. I probably shouldn‘t have even told you.” She quickly added on. This had to be kept a secret, or Beth would kill her and Izzy could not live with herself if it was her fault something happened between Beth and Chris. “And, it’s nice to meet you too, Mr. Nott. I apologize for tricking you into thinking I was Bethany. I should have confronted you as myself in the first place.”
As Byron Nott spoke, Isabella listened. He was practically praising her for her good qualities and the determination she had to follow through with her plan. It encouraged her more to think that her plan was indeed, not stupid. She had done good, and even though she made a small mistake with her potion, she did a good job keeping the plan in motion. “Thank you Sir. You don’t know how much those words mean to me. I was scared you would think I was acting stupid and childish for trying to change something that was not my business in the first place. I guess I should not have thought so low of you.” It felt like a huge weight was lifted off of her shoulders. She wasn’t failing miserably and that made her feel better. Now she could probably just have a friendly conversation with him, instead of being scared. “I am sixteen and yes, I do want this for her. Honestly, more than I’ve wanted anything in my life so far. Like I said before, I’ve never seen her happy, but that’s different now. He’s good for her.” She smiled as she talked about her sister and friend. It was true, Bethany was a miserable bitch, no offence to her, before Chris came along. All she needed was some love.

There was something about Byron that made him mentally assess a situation. Yeah, ok, so what Isabella had done wasn't exactly the perfect idea. Her parents would probably yell at her enough for doing it, so he didn't need to yell too though, but the fact that she went ahead probably knowing that showed she had guts and determination. She wanted nothing more than to let her sister be happy, and it was kind of the same thing for Byron. He wanted to make his parents happy. He figured that he owed them life, so he deserved to live up to every single thing that they wanted him to be. It was a pretty hard thing to do. They had high hopes for Byron, and that was clear when they suggested the arranged marriage to a Dalton. But that was the fact, wasn't it? They wanted him to marry a Dalton, and he still would be. Just a younger one. Which would mean that he had to wait a little longer, but that was good. It also meant that he would have time to decide to marry her for real, or to end it, and then marry someone that he might have fallen in love with. This would benefit him too. He was still umming and arring about getting married, but his parents wanted this for him, so he was going along with it. Like the doting son that he was.
Yes, Isabella seemed young, but she couldn't be further from a child. He could tell that, because she'd managed to come up with the plan, either secure some polyjuice potion or brew some, either of which would be extremely difficult, and then she'd managed to put the plan into motion, and fool him for a little, until the potion wore off. That showed sign of guts, determination, confidence and intelligence. He'd known the Dalton's were famous for their determination to do whatever it took to get what they wanted, and so he expected some of these traits, but not all of them in the youngest daughter, that was fantastic. And without the attitude of Bethany. Brilliant. If she were to become a Nex Domino member, well, that would be even better. Of course she would have to wait until she left Hogwarts for that, but then that would only be one more year. But was it too soon for her? She'd not even experienced life, it seemed. After all, she'd been locked up in the Dalton house, home schooled and everything for the first few years of her student life. So had she even had a chance to have a life, to find someone to care about? Was he robbing her of a chance to grow up? But then she did seem very grown up.
"Your parents could be very angry with you for this. I shall have to talk to them. It's their decision as much as mine."
he added, raising his eyebrows and crossing his arms. He could talk them round, he was sure. After all, he was a Nott, and a Nex Domino member. He could be nothing but a good influence for Isabella, and it would seem that she needed someone to keep her in line if she was pulling stunts like this. Or at least that was what he'd tell the adults, although he was very surprised, in a good way, that she'd managed to pull this off. Impressed, that was the word. He was impressed. She met his eyes, that was also something that very few students of Hogwarts did. He met her eyes with a straight stare, not faltering. "You're still very young though. Are you sure that you want to give up your life for this?" he asked, raising his eyebrows. He needed to be sure that she was serious, and that she wouldn't back out of it at the end and cause a mutual level of embarrassment for both families involved. "I didn't think that they would have known, they wouldn't have let it carry on. I won't tell anyone." he said, nodding. He wouldn't tell anyone because he didn't stand anything to gain from it. He didn't think a marriage to Bethany would work anyway, after the way she'd responded. "Thank you for your apology. Yes, you should have, but admittedly if you did, I may not have listened. This got my attention at least." he said with another nod. That was true, he may not have listened. He probably would have just walked past and been on his way, but with this, she'd made him listen. Not many people had the guts to do that. "You should not have thought so low of me, indeed. I shall have to discuss with your parents though, bring them around to the idea. Don't worry, I can be very persuasive." he said with a kind smile, tapping his head. He could always resort to blackmail. Legilimency came in handy for finding out dark secrets. "Alright, well, you'll have to leave that with me. I promise to do all I can to talk your parents around." he said, smiling at Isabella. Isabella had thought this over very thoroughly. She wouldn‘t just walk up in there unprepared. She has thought about everything that could go wrong, and everything that could go right. She even thought about how her parents might react to this decision. But there was one thing she just realized she didn‘t think about. Her parents are going to want to know her motives for trying to get Bethany out of the marriage. What would she tell them? She couldn‘t say anything about Chris, because then they would make sure Beth stayed away from him. Then it would be her fault, and she didn‘t want that. She would hate herself if she caused anything to happen to them. After all, she wanted this arranged marriage for herself so everything in their relationship could go right, not wrong. Nothing had gone wrong yet though, besides the slight mess up in her potion. Maybe everything will be fine, and her parents won‘t even push that hard to find out the truth. Izzy was smart, she could just come up with some reason why. Of course she would have to think it through, like she did this plan, but it shouldn‘t be that hard. Hopefully they would fall for anything she came up with.
It made her wonder if her parents would be angry at her for this. Byron didn‘t think she was stupid, but would her parents? They didn‘t view things in the way he did. He admired her determination and the fact that she could at least make the potion work. Would her parents like that? She knew that her parents liked determination, but she wasn‘t sure they would like that trait if it was against their decisions. She just had to wait it out and hope for the best. That‘s all she could do now. Who knows, maybe they would like the idea, since Isabella seemed much more calm about the situation. Ah! That‘s what she could argue. She could say Bethany was going to give the Dalton‘s a bad name by staying with him, because she would not go down without a fight. Of course, Isabella didn‘t believe that. She believed that her sister was a strong woman and do what she needed to get what she wants. Which was a good trait, in Izzy‘s eyes. But the statement might just win over her parents.
“Yes, they might be. And I am prepared for it too. If they are.” She told him. She did believe she was prepared. At least she was now that she thought about it some more. She knew what to say about her motives and everything. If they surprised her with any other questions, she could think of something quick. She was usually good at it. “Yes, I am sure of this. After all, it‘s just marriage Mr. Nott, I‘m not going to die.” She said, smiling in a playful manner. She just wanted to lighten the mood a bit, not that they were in tense conditions, she just thought it was the perfect moment to throw in some humor. Her smile grew wider. He wasn‘t so bad, but she still didn‘t like him. She wouldn‘t like him. In that sense anyway. He wasn‘t her type and she had plans for this marriage already. They were mean plans, but that didn‘t bother her. “Thank you, for keeping her secret. It means a lot.” She admitted. She hoped he was not lying. It would be nice to be able to trust him, even though he had no reason to trust her.
“You are welcome.” She said in response to his thanks. “Oh, so my outstanding beauty wouldn‘t have been enough to get your attention? Well that‘s a disappointment.” She started to joke. Man she was in a silly mood. It must be the seriousness of the moment. She wasn‘t in a bad enough mood to want to stay serious. Or, maybe her brother was getting to her. Growing up with her siblings, both of their personalities have influenced her. She had her sister‘s temper and determination and she had her brother‘s silliness. She liked to joke around, even in the most serious moments. Of course, if she was around her parents right now, she would not be cracking such jokes for they would not be amused. Heck, she didn‘t even know if Byron would be amused, but she didn‘t know him well enough to worry about it. She wasn‘t one to hide herself just because she didn‘t know you. She was not shy, she was rather outgoing and if you don‘t like her well then, that was your loss. “Well, I do hope you are persuasive, because my parents are not easily suede, but I am glad you would make such an offer as to talk this over with them. It takes a lot of weight off of my shoulders. Not that I was worried about it in the first place.” She smiled back at him when he smiled at her. “Yes, well thank you for the offer. It is much appreciated what you are doing for my sister.” She looked around the room and then at the doorway to the room, before looking back at him. “Well, I think we are done here. It was a pleasure meeting you Mr. Nott.”
