I'm gonna start a fire
You're gonna feel the heat Chris looked around at his surroundings, why he was at knockturn alley, well not even he was entirely sure, he'd just gone for a walk and ended up there. He was getting quite a few looks too, which was understandable as he did seem to have a bit of a cowboy look going on.. or a farm boy. Either way it probably wasnt the best choice of clothing to wear whilst in knockturn alley but he was Chris so obviously he wasnt worried, ok maybe a tiny bit but what the hell could anyone do to him.. other then mug him or kill him or.. yeah.. it wasnt looking good. I need to get out of here he thought to himself looking around. Now where the hell did i come from!. He knew he'd been here before but he just couldnt remember how to get back, usually he was accompanied by someone, sure he acted like he could easily just stroll around Knockturn Alley and nobody would dare look at him funny but honestly, he was completely creeped out by the place, ok it was fine at first but when you actually stopped to see what the shops sold then it got creepy, they had stuff like little shrunken skulls, what they're the skulls of Chris had no idea but a shop that sells dead things remains was not nice.
I should ask for directions he thought then looked at the closest person, it was a rather old wizard who had about three hairs and a rather pointed nose. or maybe not. Chris didnt like asking directions anyway, he was just one of those stubborn men who didnt like to admit he was lost, but if it got bad he would eventually give in and ask for directions. I this case though he had the bad feeling that asking someone for directions would only end up getting him in a worst position. It was at that point his stomach began to grumble Great like i dont have enough to draw attention to me he thought to himself looking around, maybe there would be a little place he could get a sandwich or something, or maybe not. For the love of all things magic, someone show up who doesn't look like a criminal he thought to himself, everyone in knockturn alley either looked like they lived in a bin or there was the occasional upper class pure blood type of person who would rather punch a weasley in the face then even talk to them. ]justify] Byron admired the sun as it shone through a break in the clouds. It wasn't warm, despite the occasional break of sun, but it wasn't so cold that you could see your breath in the air either. Byron occasionally tested this theory just for kicks, because he always liked to be aware of the weather, and it was nice to know that although there were still hints of winter in the air, it was slowly giving way to the next season, one which Byron looked forward to, but only because of the early spring flowers. He wasn't really a flowers man, they were pretty and all that, but he cared more about the lovely scent that you got walking through the grounds, when all the little odd flowers kept popping up everywhere. Sure, the scent was never strong, and it didn't last long either, but it was a pleasant reminder that Byron's favourite season was a huge step closer, and that was always a comfort to him. Byron was one of the guys that preferred the warm. Sure, he'd practically grown up in the cold Slytherin dungeon, but that didn't mean that he loved the cold. He'd built up a good resistance too it, and he didn't feel the chill quite so much anymore, but he did love the feeling of the warm sun on his skin. It was just perfect. And of course, this could probably be achieved with some sort of spell or charm, but it would be artificial, and that wasn't the same. His shoes hit the cobbled streets of Knocturn Alley, and he stumbled a little, but not all that noticeably anymore, and he smiled, adjusting his clothes, before taking a steady step forward.
Byron had heard that his future mother in law, if all went to plan, owned a tea shop in Knockturn Alley, and he'd decided today, as it was his day off, that he would take a trip there, stop in to Borgin's and see what they had, and have a nice cup of tea in that tea shop, and maybe run into Priscilla for a chat. Although he and Mrs Dalton, mother of Bethany, Isabella, and goodness knew how many more Dalton's, didn't get on all that well, he doubted that she wouldn't spare him time for a chat, because after all, they would be family some day, and he always looked out for his family. He was a few stores down from Borgins when he spotted some hair that you couldn't miss. He stood out, and Byron realised after a moment that he was the guy that he'd seen with Bethany Dalton, a few times, actually, on one of his trips into Hogsmede. Isabella had mentioned something about Bethany being in love, and true to his word, Byron hadn't told any of the elder Dalton's, and the reason being, well, there were two. The first was that he would have killed to be in love, and have the chance to be with the person he loved, too, so he wasn't going to disrupt what could turn out to be a truly loving relationship, and secondly, he had nothing to gain by revealing that little secret yet, and if he was going to tell it, he'd do it in a way that made sure he stood to gain something from it. Sure, if he told the Dalton's about Bethany's relationship with another, he'd have the chance to marry Beth again, but as beautiful as she was, he had much more time to find someone that he cared about whilst he was betrothed to Izzy.
That was his plan, and the reason he'd agreed so willingly to marry her. It was simple really. More time. That was what he wanted, more time to find someone that he really cared about, and then he'd cancel the marriage contract with the Dalton's and be with the one that he truly loved. If he could find her in time, but he was hopeful. Byron had everything going for him. He was pure blooded, good looking, rich, from a respectable family, and high in the favour of the Nex Domino, and to top it off, he was a teacher at Hogwarts, which helped even more with the money object of things. However, Byron did not like losing, and he was very protective of the things that were his, and even though they'd ended the contract between himself and Bethany and entered into one with himself and Izzy, he kept wondering if Beth was the one that he was meant to be with, and that he'd made a mistake. What if it turned out that he was to fall in love with Beth and he'd thrown away his chance at happiness? He didn't like that thought, and he especially didn't like the thought that he'd lost it to a blood traitor, with bright red hair. A weasley. Byron noted the lost look on the boys face and he smirked. He clearly had no idea where he was going, and Byron stepped up to him, and tapped him on the shoulder. He waited for him to turn before opening his mouth. "You look lost. Bad move."
he spoke, before raising his fist quickly and landing a punch just below the boy's left eye. Byron hit another one, quick into the boy's stomach, and took a second to roll up his sleeves, before repeating the last punch, and savouring every hit. [/blockquote][/blockquote] tagging chris. words emma can't be bothered to go check. notes i'm being lazy, no lyrics for now. lyrics will come soon, honest. clothes hurr

I'm gonna start a fire
You're gonna feel the heat Chris sighed to himself, yeah he was just going to have to ask a creep how to get the hell out of this place, or he'd have to find a place with a fireplace that he could use floo powder on. He looked around, he knew there was one shop that for certain had a fireplace because he'd used it before with his father. Oh come on.. it's got to be.. he thought then something cut him off mid thought, he heard a voice, the voice itself wasnt that familiar, but he knew it. He'd heard it a few times, he just couldnt put a face to it, untill he turned around and recognised the person almost instantly, lucky he did because a second later he was hit in the face, his left eye closed and wouldnt open again through the pain, then a punch connected with his gut and he bent over from the force.
He felt the wind escape his body and he was lost for breath, the attack continued. Chris wasnt getting any chance to even get a punch in, and eventually his legs faltered and he fell to the ground. He took the tiny opportunity he got to pull out his wand and cast a spell "Protego" he said in a rough voice that was trying to hold in the screams of agony he was dying to let out. Chris then realised he could taste blood, he wasnt sure where it was coming from but he was hurting all over so he couldnt pin point it. "why?" he asked, deciding this was probably the best question he could ask in the circumstances, it wasnt like Byron was actually still engaged to Beth, and if Byron's answer was anything to do with trying to get Beth back or anything that could possibly harm her he'd be up within seconds, he'd make sure he fought through the pain, but he hoped he didnt have to.. he couldnt stand much more.
Chris sat up, making sure protego was still working as he'd be screwed if it wasnt. He then examined himself, well what he could see without the use of a mirror, he was a mess. Great.. my family is gonna freak he thought to himself, he'd never really been beaten up before, he'd gotten into a few fights for reasons he cant remember but he'd always came out on top because he'd always had a chance to retaliate, this time he'd not had a chance and had been caught off guard, which scared him a little bit because he knew about Evie's boyfriend Sam.. and Chris had thought he'd been observant enough to notice danger, now he wasnt too sure. Byron was a little out of breath after his triad of posts hit Chris, one by one. His anger was still there, and he contemplated fighting the shield somehow, but he didn't think it was a good idea. "Why do I owe you a reason?"
he asked, sucking in a breath in an attempt to steady his heartbeat. The adrenaline that was pumping through his veins had elevated it, and he was going to have some sort of aneurism if it started to pump any faster. He wanted to say that he didn't care about him, or her, or the fact that they were dating. He didn't, or at least he didn't until he could see something in it that would give him something. For instance, he had to have something gained before he played a card like that. "Be lucky that's all you have right now. The last boy to date a Dalton girl without permission is dead. That could have been you" he pointed out, knowing that the weasel should have been grateful that he'd not just gone in there with one, or even two, of the unforgivable curses. He didn't hate Chris though, he just hated losing, and he didn't like that Chris was in love, it was jealousy that was fuelling him, and also the fact that he'd had to work extra hard to smooth things over with his parents and explain why he'd gone to meet one Dalton girl, and come back engaged to another. "You should know that she was mine. You're lucky that I agreed to release her from our contract. But I know. I know about you and I want you to know that you need to watch yourself. I'm keeping this card close to my chest." he replied, knowing that it was an excellent card to play, he just wanted the right circumstances in which he could benefit most. Byron Nott ran his hand through his hair and straightened his clothes, which had gotten a little ruffled and skewed in the little fight. He didn't get hit once, and the boy had taken the defensive route, not the offensive one, which was a good thing because Byron didn't want to have to attempt to fix his perfect face with magic, but then he'd have had to get a luck hit in to do any lasting damage, and he doubted highly that it would have happened so he would have been fine anyway. This was a warning to Chris. The real meaning of it was, well, for one, to take out frustration on something, for two, to give him a prelude to what could be in his future should he chose to stick by that Dalton girl, and three, because he was jealous of the love that Chris had, not that he’d admit that he was jealous out loud, oh no, not of him. Byron Nott didn’t get jealous, he got everything he wanted. [/blockquote][/blockquote] tagging chris. words emma can't be bothered to go check. notes i'm being lazy, no lyrics for now, and sorry if it's lame xP. lyrics will come soon, honest. clothes hurr

I'm gonna start a fire
You're gonna feel the heat Chris looked at Byron with pure detest in his eyes, Byron was just one of those people that you'd want to punch in the face for no apparent reason, he thought he was better then everyone else. Well to Chris, Byron was worthless he'd rather spend more time talking to a worm then Byron, but Chris didnt seem to get much of a say this time. Chris attempted to get up but his legs faltered so he sat himself back down before he caused more damage to himself. "You owe me a reason because i say you owe me a reason." Chris stated, his voice still rough and dry but he forced himself to speak, although he wasnt going to explain himself to this snooty scum. "Beth would be worth it, i'd do it myself to protect her, i love her, she knows that and she's not the only one, i can cope through anything you have to give knowing that" he stated trying once again to stand up, this time managing to but having to rest mainly on his right leg as his left one stung like hell.
"She was never yours[" he spat at Byron, it was true, Chris was dating her before Byron stuck his neck in and heck even if they'd have gotten married Chris would have still dated her in secret, unless obviously he'd murder Byron which to be honest he would have done happily. "And if you try anything.. then it wont be me taking the beatings.. oh and by the way, good one on being the bigger man and not attacking someone without warning.. oh wait.. never mind" he said, his voice changing back to how it was a little bit. "Oh, and how's it feel to be jealous of a weasley?" he said, probably just getting himself into a more likely chance of getting his head kicked in, but protego was still up, and he'd keep it up untill Bron had gone.. or untill someone came along that would help him out. Byron could recognise it. He'd seen it before, in many people's eyes, and a lot of people had looked at him wearing that same expression. It was pure hate. Something that one shouldn't be proud of when it was directed at you, and when you could recognise it instantly from experience. He didn't set out to be hated, but as a pure blood member of the Nex Domino, he'd been raised with a certain set of beliefs nad prejudices. One being that Pure bloods were better, end of. Mudbloods were nothing compared to the capability and worth of pure bloods. That had been drummed into him by his parents from birth, and something like that after so long had to stick, and he couldn't feel any other way. The second was that one of the main goals in life was to keep the pure blood line going by marrying a pure blooded and respectable girl and having children with her. Thirdly was that the more children you had, the better, because that meant more pure blooded people in the world. Fourth, was that as a Nott, he was better than almost everyone. The Nott family was well known, popular with the Nex Domino because of their beliefs, and they were rich, well respected and looked up to. Pure blood families like that of the Nott's and the Dalton's didn't come around all that often, or at least ones of that status weren't that common at all. That almost instantly set him apart, making him something out of the norm. Money gave them power and with power came the ability to do whatever the hell you pleased, and also allowed you to have whatever you liked, which was also another perk of the money.
Money was something that this weasel was not so used to, by the look of it. "I don't listen to vermin's silly demands"
he replied, disgust in his voice. Blood traitors were almost as bad as mudbloods, and as a Weasley, they were one of the most well known blood traitor's around, going back to Arthur Weasley, who used to be in the Order, and worked at the ministry. Byron had considered a ministry position, but considering that Styx was inside the school, it seemed as though it would be good for him to have some back up. "The risks outweigh the rewards, that's something you need to learn about before you go saying that she's worth it. If you're dead then you're no use to her, and you can't have her then. She'll find someone else" he replied, shaking his head at the naieve thoughts of this boy. Even that Evelyn, who's idiotic shopkeeper boyfriend had been killed, would find someone else, and if her parents had their way it would be someone more worthy and of their choosing. That was half the point, Maria seemed to be already planning her daughter's wedding. "Want to bet? I could have had her. But I'll settle for her sister. She'll be pregnant with my child after the wedding, faster than you could say 'pass my viagra'" he replied, raising his eyebrows and throwing in a personal blow. "I'll never. Never. Be jealous of a poor, muggle loving, blood traitor family. I have everything I want. Why would I be jealous of you?" he replied, his jaw tensing. [/blockquote][/blockquote] tagging chris. words emma can't be bothered to go check. notes i'm being lazy, no lyrics for now, and sorry if it's lame xP. lyrics will come soon, honest. clothes hurr

I'm gonna start a fire
You're gonna feel the heat Chris smirked slightly, he was in rather familiar territory, he'd gotten called a rodent, rat, weasley any kind of vermin realy in his first few years at Hogwarts, well he was like the first Weasley to grow up in Slytherin, obviously he wasnt going to just make friends left right and center, that's partially why he dyed his hair and created his reputation. So people wouldnt dare mess with him. "Well, you may call me a vermin, but to me I'm a lion in rags, your the vermin in riches" Chris stated then added "I'd take rags over being you any day, money doesn't by you everything".
Chris smiled at his next statement, Byron just didnt get it and that was something that Chris enjoyed knowing a lot. "Byron, Byron, Byron, I'm not in it for anything" he told him with a smirk. "If she finds someone that loves her more then i do and she loves them too, she's more than welcome to them because i just want her to be happy, I'm nowhere near as selfish and full of myself as you are" he told Byron, sure Byron had beat him up so Byron would probably see this as his win, but Chris was certain he'd win when it came down to words, Byron just didnt have the understanding Chris did. "She would never have truly been yours" Chris stated, to him that was as much of a fact then the sky being blue. Then Byron mentioned Izzy and his hands clenched slightly. "She's not yours either, sure you might marry her, but she doesn't give a crap about you!" he said angrily, Izzy was like a little sister to him and he didnt like hearing someone talk about her like that. "You know exactly why you're jealous, nobody gives a crap about you, you could die tomorrow and people would actually celebrate!" Chris said honestly, he knew he was working Byron up but it was worth it just to see the reactions and expressions on his face. Of course this boy had come to accept and expect insults like this. They were common enough when they were the truth. "At least I'm not a disgrace to my house or to my blood lines"
Byron replied, spitting on the ground at Chris' feet. "And what money can't buy, you can achieve with respect and power, another two things that you're severely lacking in. You're quite out of the pure blood loop, you know. Thank Merlin." Byron replied, not liking this boy at all. How did he ever manage to charm Bethany around when Byron Nott couldn't? No. That wasn't right. He could have. He'd just needed more time. That was all. He'd had less than an hour. And of course she was angry. She'd taken an instant dislike to him before they'd even met. It was a shame really, had they met on better terms they may have gotten on, but because of the circumstances she'd already pushed him into the 'hate' category of her emotions, and that was where he'd stayed. "Not selfish, smart. A smart man gets what he can out of every situation, and carries that on to the next one. We as human beings were made to evolve continuously and a part of that is learning from the things around us, the people we meet, and the situations we find ourselves in. Another part of that is working out how to best use that knowledge to our advantage. Something that I am spectacular at doing. It's my specialty" he replied, smirking. "It's not selfish, it's self preservation. It's human nature. It's seeking to advance ourselves." he corrected the stupid boy. He wouldn't get anywhere within the Nex Domino if he didn't think like a man. "Oh really? I had all of a half an hour with her, and she'd already put me in her bad books because her parents picked me out. Had we met on a day when she was less angry, less worried about the marriage and less likely to snap, we would have hit it off quite well, had quite a lot in common and I would have made her laugh more times in five minutes than you could in a month. Now that's a fact" he replied, confident in his ability to charm. That was the truth, it was the circumstances that meant that they had gotten off on the wrong foot, as they say, but he could have righted that wrong in no time, all he needed was a few moments with a Beth that was in a better mood. And preferably the real one, not the fake Bethany that he'd met that day. "I don't care whether she loves me, hates me or is indifferent. She will be my wife. And she'll come around. Just like Bethany would have." he replied, smirking. His smirk faltered at Chris' words, knowing that sure, that was probably true. But his parents cared. That was where he went wrong. "Listen to me, Weasley. Life isn't about feelings. Life is what you make it. Life is about getting as close to the top of the ladder as you can. Life is striving to achieve something worth remembering. Love won't put you in the history books unless it ends in tragedy. But you do something marvellous, and then you'll be immortal." he replied, trying to explain the idea that if he could do something spectacular, more people than he could imagine would remember Byron Nott's name, and that was what he was looking for. Something spectacular. And alright, sure, he was jealous. Jealous that even though Byron should have had everything he wanted, the one thing he didn't want, this snotty nosed, blood traitor of a child who didn't understand nor deserve love was the one that had it. It wasn't fair. [/blockquote][/blockquote] tagging chris. words emma can't be bothered to go check. notes i'm being lazy, no lyrics for now, and sorry if it's lame xP. lyrics will come soon, honest. clothes hurr

I'm gonna start a fire
You're gonna feel the heat Chris smirked, he'd gotten the same insults from eleven year olds and he didnt give a crap about them then or now. "Yeah.. your just a disgrace to humanity" he said with a small shrug like it was something Byron couldnt help and he was born that way, the total reverse of what Byron was doing, Chris was making it seem like Byron had no choice in how he was but Byron was making it seem like Chris had the choice to be a Slytherin or a Weasley, although if he did have the choice, he probably wouldnt have changed a thing. "If you think that, i feel sorry for you, i truly do" he said, he didnt but he said it anyway. "Oh and i think you'll find i'm more in the pure blood loop than you, i hang out with the rest of the weasleys, the potters, the malfoys oh and the daltons and i'm hanging out with the next generation of pure bloods, i'm sorry to say but they hate people like you.. the pure blood loop isnt quite the loop you think it is" Chris said with a smirk, he knew that it was only a matter of time before pure blood supremacists would be few. "Self preservation, get you, you little Voldemort wanna be, but remember Voldemort was defeated by a Weasley, a Potter and a now Malfoy.. Now if you want to go on and try to be the best go for it.. but you might get defeated by a bunch of kids" He said rolling his eyes, Voldemort although Chris hated to admit it, was a powerful wizard, not a great wizard but a powerful one, he was ten times more powerful then Byron and had the same idea he had apparently, but a powerful wizard got defeated by three teenagers.. obviously power isnt good enough.
Chris didnt want to believe what he was hearing but deep down he could see it happening, if the Dalton adults hadnt put Byron and her in an arranged marriage, if byron had caught her in a good mood.. maybe Byron would be the one beaten and bruised and Chris would be the one standing over him. It was a thought that terrified him so he made sure to lock it away deep in the darkest corners of his mind. It still haunted him though "Well.. If the person i'm in a relationship with loved he person in front of me.. then we'd have something in common, and i know you dont want that" he said with a smirk then he realised what he'd said, was it wise telling him about Izzy's crush.. oh well it had been said and there was no going back. Chris saw Byron's pompous smirk falter and a smile formed on Chris' face. "Maybe you'll be immortal in words, and i dont know what you believe, but me, i believe when we die we go to a better place.. well.. i'd go to a better place, cant say the same about you.. anyway.. you'll be remembered on Earth as some dead guy who was once powerful but nobody really liked him and in the afterlife.. you'll be alone, forever" Chris told him then paused to let Byron take it in for a moment before continuing "Now if you want to take the destructive path and end up alone and hated, go for it but i'd rather be forgotten and loved then remain a stain on the world and alone" Chris said, rather pleased with himself, he knew he was in the right and Byron was in the wrong, he just knew it. "Better that, than to be a disgrace to my family. Your ancestors would be ashamed of you"
he sneered. Byron hated this guy, he ground on his last nerve and he couldn't take it much longer. "Oh, grow up you pathetic little child. You don't deserve the company you keep. But then maybe you do. Potter ended up with a lunatic, Mrs Malfoy was, albeit a great mind but she put it to a terrible use and Ronald. What a joke. It's hard to believe that they're the golden trio. A blood traitor, a mudblood and a lunatic. Enjoy their company, maybe they'll rub off on you" Byron replied, rolling his eyes. He understood the sacrifices that the so called golden trio made to keep people alive but the fact was that it didn't change the pure blood views. It never would. Pure blood was best, that was it. That was the rule. That was what they lived by. Pure bloods were the most respected, the strongest with magic and the best in general, and the fact was that no mudblood, half blood or blood traitor could match up to that. "Ohh look at you go! Big words for such a small mind. Shame you had to mimic them from me. Maybe if you actually read something other than a perverted magazine you'd actually expand something worthwhile. Your vocabulary, perhaps" he suggested, rolling his eyes. Pathetic child, he knew nothing of what he was talking about. He made out like they had no help, but they had help from one of the greatest minds. Dumbledore. Of course he was a bit loopy too, but that's neither here nor there. He started off on the right path. "Oh please, you think I didn't notice? She begged me to marry her in Beth's place. I knew there was a reason for it. She wasn't doing it for Beth, she was doing it for you. You're the reason that she's going to marry me." he replied, in an attempt to play the blame game and make him feel guilty. Of course he was the reason just as much as Bethany was anyway, but the fact was that it had never been confirmed. He knew though, it was a pretty obvious thing. Who would chose the life that she did for one person if they didn't love them completely. "Oh cut your babbling, go read a proper book, if you ever learned to read that is. I'm done wasting my time on your pathetic self." He said, turning on his heel and walking away. Once you were dead, you were dead. There was no after life, unless you chose the ghost route of course, but he didn't plan on that. He was never coming back. He'd have his time and be done, and that was that. An eternity roaming the halls of Hogwarts as a semi transparent being somehow didn't tickle his fancy, no idea why. It clearly sounded lovely. [/blockquote][/blockquote] tagging chris. words emma can't be bothered to go check. notes i'm being lazy, no lyrics for now, and sorry if it's lame xP. lyrics will come soon, honest. clothes hurr

I'm gonna start a fire
You're gonna feel the heat Chris laughed at Byron, he had come to terms long ago that although he may not seem to be a Weasley by looks or even by house, it was something more then that which made a weasley a weasley. "My ancestors may disapprove of my hair, or my house, but they would never be ashamed of me, standing up to someone like you". Chris hated Byron so much and when he insulted harry, Hermione and Ron he could feel his hatred rise, Hermione had been like a mother to him, and Harry is as much his Uncle as Ron is. Chris could stand being insulted, heck he kind of enjoyed seeing what people would come up with to try and annoy him, but when it came to people he cared about he didnt like it one bit, especially with Hermione's disappearance it hit harder then it probably should have.
"Oh i get it you've ran out of good insults so now your insulting my intelligence, good one, totally original, nobody has ever done that before" Chris said rolling his eyes, it was just childish to insult someones intelligence, also it was kind of boring. "Oh, trying the guilt trip are we?" he asked rhetorically Chris did feel kind of guilty but he wasnt going to let it show to Byron, that would just give Byron something to annoy him with. "Thank god for that, because i dont exactly like spending this quality time with you either" Chris said bitterly and watched as Byron walked away, finally he brought down his protego and climbed to his feet slowly, he could barely stand and walking was probably out of the question so he slowly made his way towards the nearest wall and sat himself down at the bottom of it, rolling his jeans up so he could work out how much damage had been done. bethany had taken to spending as little time in the house as was possible. she wasn't convinced that her parents had completely accepted the explanation they had been given as to why byron would now be marrying their youngest daughter rather than their eldest. fortunately they hadn't yet pulled beth to one side to demand the real reason, which wasn't necessarily the truth, just the details that they had left out. she had been very surprised to find that byron hadn't revealed the specifics of the engagement change to her parents. maybe there was a shred of humanity in him that she had failed to spot through his inflated ego. she didn't intend to give them opportunities to interrogate her, meaning that she had to push herself out of the house to anywhere that was accessible and mildly interesting. diagon alley had begun to get boring and there was no use visiting hogsmeade until the hogwarts students got a weekend there. on her short list of ideas, that only left knockturn alley.
she was most unfortunate to catch sight of byron nott walking through the alley. his presence wasn't appreciated but she wasn't in a position to demand that he left. sure, she could try but there was no valid reason for him to observe her demands. as much as she hated to admit it, he had as much right to be there as she did. what chance did she stand anyway? even in her own home where the circumstances had been quite different, she'd been the one to leave the room. in her own home! beth's expression showed he disgust for the man and left little of her feelings towards him to the imagination. she continued to walk in the same direction, not willing for him to change her plans for a second time. if she wanted to walk through knockturn alley, she would so without having to avoid her ex-fiancé and potential brother-in-law. something stopped her though, only for a moment but long enough to see a figure at the bottom the wall.
upon closer examination, she identified the person to be chris and he didn't appear to be in the best state. there were several bruises visible and most likely more on the way. as much as she loved him, she wondered whether he honestly considered a trip to knockturn alley a good idea. even the best wizards occasionally got knocked down and left to their own devices so it was no wonder that somebody had thought it amusing to attack an innocent student that, knowing chris, probably wasn't that innocent. she walked quickly over to him, picking the bottom of her robes up off of the floor so she didn't trip, before crouching down at his side. "i hope you're going to explain," she told him, putting an arm under his and around his back as she attempted to bring him to his feet. "you're going to have to help me out a bit here."
mistakes happened when you got sloppy and seeing as she didn't particularly want to find him dead on the doorstep too, she didn't want people asking her parents why she was healing a random guy in the street. they weren't stupid and they'd soon figure out what was going on. once they found out who the person was, they'd start looking and once they found him... things probably wouldn't be pretty. she doubted anyone in the alley would feel too bad about giving them chris' name for a reward. once she got him a little further away from the public eye, then she'd heal him. her hood was up for now so people couldn't see her face particularly well but there was more chance of them recognising her voice. she was usually confident in her magical ability but she wasn't going to risk making him worse by using non-verbal magic.

I'm gonna start a fire
You're gonna feel the heat There was a lot of pain in Chris' life, sometimes he wondered why he put up with it, and like that he'd instantly remember and everything was worth it. Beth, she was the single reason he was going through all this and he'd go through it all again for her to. Chris could see someone walking towards him, he presumed the worst but didnt move, he simply watched the person come closer an closer, it wasnt untill they were right up next to him he saw their face. It was Beth, his oasis in a desert of pain. A smile made it's way onto his lips as he looked at her face, she seemed concerned, well she had every right to be and it made Chris' smile fade.
Chris never wanted her to see him like this, weak and battered, "I'll tell you everything" he told her finding his voice to be more rough then it had been a moment ago, he wasnt sure why his voice had suddenly changed slightly, maybe it was some subconscious way to seem more manly or maybe because he'd stopped talking for a short while his voice had finally allowed itself to portray how his body felt, he wasnt sure at all. Chris slowly got onto his feet, Beth id help a bit but he just couldnt bring himself to rest much weight on her, he was strong enough to cope and the thought of possibly hurting her somehow.. well he'd rather go through the beating again then have Beth feel a single pinch of pain.
Chris let Beth guide him to wherever she planned to go, he figured she had a specific spot in mind where they could talk in private, Beth was always so organized and planned and proper, completely unlike Chris, in some way's Chris and Beth are completely different but on the other hand in way they were a lot alike. He'd finally met his match when he met Beth and the more time he spent with her the more he realised that, but he wouldnt change it for the world, Beth meant everything to him, sure, they didnt show it much, they didnt really kiss or do anything like that, but that was more to the fact if they did there was a high chance of someone seeing an Chris ending up in a pool of blood. Beth ha literally just came and scraped him up off the floor, and it was times like this Chris wanted to just be all over her so much it'd get rated m for mature... obviously he wasnt going to though.
