oh give me to the rambling man LET IT ALWAYS BE KNOWN THAT I WAS WHO I AM -- -- -- -- -- -- KALEB couldn’t stand it anymore, hiding himself. Everywhere he went, he heard whispered rumours about his sexuality, and people were watching him, plainly looking to see if he acted gay. Even when he sat down on the Slytherin table at lunch each day he could hear the rumours, as clear as day in his ears, as if the ones whispering didn’t think he could hear. He was right next to them, and they were idiots to assume that he couldn’t hear. As Kaleb pushed back the covers, he knew that today at breakfast would be no different. There would be the spread of all breakfast foods in front of him, their delectable scents swarming him and begging him to try them. And of course there would be the hushed and rough whispers next to him, commenting on his every move, and discussing whether the clothes he was wearing made him look gay or not. Kaleb wasn’t gay, he was bisexual, and there were rumours of that too, but gay seemed to be the favourite at the moment, and people had came up with elaborate stories about him having sex with every girl he set eyes on as a cover up.
PUSHING himself out of bed, he found his way to the trunk at the end of it, and dressed quickly in his jeans and a top. It was a Saturday, and it was time to go get some breakfast. He’d considered skipping and going to the kitchens later instead, as he knew how to get in there, but he knew that he shouldn’t let some rumours get in the way of him eating, as he’d lived through rumours before anyway. Not any like this though, as these were almost true. No one had brought up the student-teacher relationship with Zane, which meant that thankfully not many people knew about that. He didn’t want them to know, not because he was ashamed, but because he couldn’t bear it if everywhere he went he’d hear Zane’s name in whispers, as just hearing it hurt enough. Once he was dressed and ready, he made his way out of the common room and up the winding sets of steps that led toward the huge entrance hall. He followed the usual stream of students all heading into the great hall, and took his place, as usual, on the Slytherin table. And as usual, the whispers started again. do you really think he’s gay? All the good looking ones are! But all those girls! Were they really a cover-up? I don’t know.. he could hear them all being said, as usual.
BUT something that wasn’t usual was about to change this normal scene, as Kaleb got up and stood up on the bench seat where he’d just been sitting down. He raised his wand to his throat and spoke the charm aloud that would project his voice all around the hall. Not that he needed it, as most eyes were on him now anyway, and a few people were quiet, waiting to see what he was about to say. ”I’m bisexual. Okay? Now can I have permission for some privacy please? In other words. Keep your whispers down. I can hear you, ya know.”
Kaleb said loudly, then spoke the counter spell so his voice returned to normal, and then sat back down in his chair. He just had to get that off his chest, because he was sick to death of keeping himself hidden. He was coming out, and wanted the world to know! And as for his father, well Kaleb didn’t care, and if he had to live in the room of requirement during the summer to miss out on the wrath of Mr Garcia, then so be it. Besides, he had a flat that he could easily lock![/blockquote] -- -- -- -- -- --P A R T N E R I N C R I M E open to anyone!

BETHANY wouldn't have got up so early if she'd had much choice, but unfortunately for her, she was required to wake earlier than she would have chosen to do so, even if it was a Saturday and she had no lessons to sit through. Having arrived extremely late in the academic year, it seemed that what the family tutor had been teaching the Daltons was completely irrelevant. In order to pass her exams, she was having to do so much revision that it almost killed her, as well as an extra lesson every now and then. Providing the teacher was willing to give up some of their extra time to help her that is.
TODAY she was going to catch up on some complicated Transfiguration work that the rest of her year had studied in January, but Beth had been in the comfort of her own home at that point in time. Thankfully Professor Westwood had agreed to go through Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration with her, but had also been told not to panic if she didn't understand because it was on the list of topics to go through when it came to revision time in the lessons. Pfft, like Beth panicked. Perhaps it was a bad thing, but she'd had no need to panic in her many years at home, and didn't intend for that to change any time soon.
AFTER forcing herself to leave behind the comfort of her duvet, Beth grabbed a top and a pair of jeans and put them on, pulling her school robes around her so that she didn't freeze on her way through the dungeons. It wasn't until she passed a mirror that she realised how awful she looked, and instantly pulled off her robes and threw them onto her bed. She would much rather face the cold than look like a mismatched mannequin. Taking her wand from her pocket, she waved it once towards her hair, taming those that poked out at awkward angles, and then stowed it back into her jeans.
BREAKFAST was certainly first on the agenda. There was no way that she would apply herself to additional education without first satisfying her stomach. Whilst she wasn't particularly hungry at this point, she didn't want a professor listening in as her body demanded food a little later on. Beth sat down at the Slytherin table, and was more than aware of the whispers and rumours that buzzed around the hall as one particular student entered the room, who just so happened to sit opposite her.
THE rumours grew a little louder with his presence, despite him being more than capable of hearing them. She continued to eat, doing her best to ignore people trying to ask her what she thought. Quite frankly, she cared little for rumours, and thought they were just a pathetic way of making someone feel bad about themselves. If she wanted to make someone feel like crap, which she did on some occasions, then she would do so directly to their face, whether with verbal abuse or just a sharp slap.
KALEB spontaneously stood up on the bench and announced to the whole hall that he was bisexual. Did he think that all of the students were completely thick or something? After he had said his piece, he resumed his seat and continued eating. "oh do get over yourself garcia, you needn't be so dramatic. everyone figured out that you had a thing for guys weeks ago." perhaps she had been a little blunt, and bethany doubted he'd appreciate her comment, but to put it simply, she didn't give a shit.

oh give me to the rambling man LET IT ALWAYS BE KNOWN THAT I WAS WHO I AM -- -- -- -- -- -- WHEN Kaleb heard an outburst from next to him, he turned to see Beth Dalton spouting something off. "I honestly dont care if everyone figured it out before me. At least now, rumours arent just rumours anymore, and it will stop people whispering, they can talk as loud as they want."
Kaleb said loudly, more to the table than to just Beth. Because he didn't care. He was out, and openly bisexual now and they could do whatever with that information because he'd made it public knowledge, and that was kind of the point. He just hoped that the first years didn't start asking him what it meant because he was not a dictionary and he wasn't going to have sex talks with unrelated little annoying midgets who reached his knee-caps. "AND as for you miss Dalton, at least I can be with who I want to. I hear your daddy planned a nice arranged marriage for you. so, who's the lucky Mr? is he hot?" Kaleb asked the last bit jokingly, as he was going to make it clear that this was who he was, and people could like it or lump it and he couldn't give a shit! honestly, this was who he was, and he couldn't have felt any better now that everyone knew who he really was, because he wanted to get that out there in the open, as hiding who you were was just depressing and annoying, and he didn't like it. he wasn't ashamed, so why should he hide the fact that men could tickle his fancy too? He shouldn't. And he wasn't going to anymore. KALEB knew that bringing up that arranged marriage would probably come back to bite him in the end, but he wanted to get some inside info on it, and seeing as Kai hadn’t told him any juicy gossip from it yet, he wasn’t about to wait when the perfect opportunity to be nosey had presented itself. Besides, he was feeling very cheery and outgoing today, and so he was happy to meddle in other peoples business if that was where the mood took him. And it was where the mood had taken him, so meddling he was going to do! And he was sure he’d know all about it eventually anyway, as it would no doubt be the subject of whispers next week, so why wait? Kaleb had also heard that Beth’s brother, Joshua was entered for a lovely arranged marriage too, and knowing how Josh was, he doubted that Joshua liked that much at all, considering that both Josh and Beth liked their freedom of choice. "OH you do live in a dream world Kaleb, everyone's just going to whisper more now that you've announced it to the whole school," Beth retorted with a wide smirk, rather pleased with herself for provoking a response from him. She had half expected him to throw her a few evils and then ignore her, but he was clearly after the attention. Bethany couldn't particularly blame him there, she was a bit of an attention-seeker herself, but never to the point of proclaiming her current cause for drama to everyone in the Great Hall. He seemed to have forgotten that the staff table wasn't empty either.
"YOU seem to doubt my parents' judgement, which I admit is the normal response, but you are clearly unaware that my parents are simply scouting out those who may appeal to me, and then I am to select one for myself or else send them looking again." It wasn't completely true, though Beth was satisfied that it had sounded very convincing, having convinced herself that that was what was going to happen as well. When she convinced herself, she knew that most people would believe what she was saying. "Don't you feel too safe though Garcia, your father's probably planning to marry you off to someone as well, and I doubt you'll be so fortunate as to get a say in the matter. Oh when he finds out that you're bi, I can see the bruises now," another smirk etched upon her lips at this point.
SHE couldn't have anticipated just how fun it was to wind him up. He was certainly a flawed person, and she couldn't deny that she wasn't perfect either, but when you mixed up his past and home-life with the current situation, it came together nicely to form a cauldron full of taunts and gossip. "I don't yet know who I will be marrying, but I can assure that you'll be the last person to find out. Even the Weasleys will have been told before the news reaches your ears."

oh give me to the rambling man LET IT ALWAYS BE KNOWN THAT I WAS WHO I AM -- -- -- -- -- -- "WELL anything is better than this world, correct? And they don't need to whisper. I don't mind them talking about me. They always have. It's the fact that they act like I can't hear them that gets to me."
Kaleb retorted, thanking the wit that he inherited from his third nanny. Yes, He remembered her, she was the third one that he'd grown close too, and the third one to be taken from him. He hated his parents for that. It was like they were trying to remove everything he loved from his life, to make him as loveless, and miserable as they were. In fact, maybe that was their plan! Hannah was always kind to Kaleb, and his mother must have realised that Kaleb was fond of her, and thought that it was not acceptable for her son to be happy when she certainly wasn't! Especially because he was, of course, the whole reason for her unhappiness, as had she not gotten pregnant with Kaleb, she would have married a man that she loved and lived happily ever after. She seemed to always forget that there was a time that she did love Kaleb's father, but that faded away shortly after they said 'I do'. "OH my mistake! Of course they would let you chose your partner. Because they would leave it to you to make the decision as to who's genes your perfect Dalton ones are paired with and passed on!" Kaleb said sarcastically, knowing that the chances were that her parents would not let her chose because they wanted to make sure that the person who would be the father to the next generation of the Dalton genes was just as perfect, or at least as close to perfect as you could get to the Daltons. There wouldn't be much choice, as there were only a few pure blooded and good looking males in Hogwarts, that came from a decent enough family to even be considered! Maybe they would look beyond the walls of Hogwarts and look at someone from Durmstrang or whatever that darned school was called, as surely there was someone more appropriate to sire the next generation of little devils! The Dalton children were famously unruly and loud, and no doubt that any child Bethany had would be just the same, and probably set more fires than the Daltons had done as a whole! KALEB laughed, a little bitterly at the bruises comment. It was typical that she guessed that his father was the type to leave a mark. Most pure blooded families had their father teach them 'respect' by using their fist, and anyone who didn't was just lucky. "Oh, darlin', when he finds out? Silly child, he already knows! I knew I wouldn't get away with it for long. and see the bruises? I can feel the bruises! I think I have a few left if you want to truly see them, although it means me removing my shirt and I don't want to make your new fiancée jealous" Kaleb said with a wicked smirk, truly not caring what his father thought, as long as Kaleb was happy with who he was and the way he lived. "And by the way, my best friend was Kamil Snyder, I think I know how to find out before you do. So I tell you what, you be nice to me and I may give you a hint!" Kaleb taunted with a smirk. Of course, he and Kai were not friends anymore, but Kaleb wasn't going to think of that. [/blockquote] -- -- -- -- -- --P A R T N E R I N C R I M E open to anyone!

"IF you think that admitting to the rumours is going to save your sorry ass, then you've got another thought coming. I've only been here two months, but that's plenty of time to figure out what people will act like." She hadn't had any personal experience, but she'd heard the snide comments that people had made towards those that were a little more open when it came to the gender of their partner. Then again, perhaps Kaleb could handle it, but that wasn't something she'd say aloud any time soon.
"AND what's to say I'm going to go through with this marriage anyway? Don't pretend to know me because you really don't. Merlin, even Josh doesn't know me as well as he thinks." There was only one person that she trusted with her innermost secrets and that was herself. Her brother certainly knew more about her than anybody else, but she believed in him to keep it to himself.
"Kamil Snyder is nothing more than a pathetic excuse for a Slytherin. He may think he knows everything and everyone, but I doubt he was aware that everyone knew about him screwing his best friend," Beth retorted. She felt nothing but pure hatred to Kai, and the fact that he'd spoken to some of her family made her hate him all the more. The stupid little rat just wanted attention, and the only way he'd get it from her was in the form of a fist heading towards his face. "So what was it that possessed you to fuck the snide little runt?"

oh give me to the rambling man LET IT ALWAYS BE KNOWN THAT I WAS WHO I AM -- -- -- -- -- -- KALEB smirked when she suggested that it would save his ass. he didn't care about his ass being saved anymore, the only thing he wanted, was to be himself. And if that lead to his death (unlikely but possible), more bruises (probable, thanks dad), or snide comments (very highly likely) then so be it. He could handle petty comments, because sticks and stones could break bones but words would never hurt him. Well, not words from people who didn't mean anything to him, but if Kai started on him, that would be awful. He couldn't handle Kai hating on him, it just wouldn't be good at all. Kaleb still loved Kai of course, but he wasn't letting Kai know because he didn't want to put Kai into a position where he'd get hurt by Kaleb again, as if Kale was lucky enough to be given another chance, if he messed it up again, it would probably kill Kai, and Kaleb knew how it was to be broken, so he wasn't even going to think about that pain. "I honestly don’t care. I've taken more than petty beatings and stupid words, and I don't let it bother me"
Kaleb said honestly, taking a bite out of an apple from the table. "I'M sure he knows you well enough, considering that you Dalton's stick together. Hey, is Josh hot?" Kaleb said with a shrug. He was joking about the last part of course, but it did sound semi-serious, and he was slightly doing it to annoy her, and he hoped it worked, because he didn't like her biting tone of voice. He could handle other guys saying shit like that to him, because they were guys and he could kick their ass, but he was never going to hit a girl, it was immoral, so when a girl pissed him off, there wasn't much he could do but hit back with snide comments and hope that they hit their mark well enough to make her stop it. "How did you know?" Kale tried to be calm as she mentioned Kai's name, because he didn't want to go all emotional around her, she'd use it the best she could against him, and if she used Kai against him he'd be reduced to a shaking wreck again, just like he was with Zane. The colour drained from his face. At least she didn't know about the tape. "Don't you dare speak about him like that. I love him" Kaleb murmured the last part, casting his eyes down at the table as he said it. [/blockquote] -- -- -- -- -- --P A R T N E R I N C R I M E open to anyone!

"YOUR lies may fool everyone else, but quite frankly I don't believe a word that escapes your lips. I don't know about anyone else, but I doubt he'd beat you about the head if he didn't get a reaction." From personal experience, Bethany wasn't in any position to make any judgements or assumptions about the subject. Neither her father or her uncle had laid a finger on her, though her mother had given her a sharp slap to her face every so often if she disobeyed her.
DID that even matter though? She was Beth Dalton, and she was right about everything. It was irrelevant as to whether or not she had experienced bruising by the hand of someone that should love her. If she said that the grass was blue, then it was blue and that was the end of it. "Josh knows a lot about me, yes, more than anybody else, but there are things I won't even tell him. My parents would go straight to him if they thought I was up to something, and even he would crack if they got annoyed enough."
It was a combination of keeping her secrets hidden and making sure that her brother wasn't hurt. Beth hoped that if they thought he didn't know, then they wouldn't go as far as truth serums or torturing curses. They could get quite old fashioned like that. RESULT. Beth had been saving Kamil for last, and it seemed to have payed off. She was certainly smart enough to know that she should weaken him somewhat with weaker insults and then finish him off with the big one, as opposed to dropping that one on him and the others having no effect in comparison. "I'll speak about whoever I like in whatever fashion I so desire. He doesn't deserve anything more than the 'credit' I've given him," She retorted with a somewhat cruel smirk. "And what makes you so certain that your beloved fuck buddy feels the same way about you?" THE fact that she had nothing else to say to him prompted Bethany to leave the hall, and she knew that her last words would certainly stir some thoughts within his head. Standing from her seat, Beth gave him one last smirk before exiting the hall, a particular air of elegance following closely behind despite her recent taunts. oh give me to the rambling man LET IT ALWAYS BE KNOWN THAT I WAS WHO I AM -- -- -- -- -- -- "WELL it's clear you don't know my dearest old dad very well, isn't it? Maybe I should set up a meeting. I hear you like setting fires, he wouldn't be to impressed with that"
Kaleb retorted. She knew nothing of the bruises he'd taken at the hands of his father. Granted, he'd hit him back in the past, but that was the past, and Kaleb didn't dare hit his father when he was so pissed off with Kale, because his dad would just end up killing him, and that would just be bad for everyone. But then again, it would be less painful for him. He'd considered suicide before, but it was more of a fleeting thought, as he just couldn't bear to end this thing that people called life, incase it did get better. And it had, in some respects, so he was glad at least, that after Zane's speech he'd not topped himself. "OH, so you do have some feelings? You want to protect your brother, correct? I'm sure he loves being left out of your schemes just to avoid possible pain" He said with a shrug, knowing at least that even though her parents had clearly not injured her in any serious way, there was that going on in her family, if someone was keeping secrets. The fact that she was defensive about her brother told her that. His father would have probably turned to torture methods too, which was probably what the Dalton's used as a way to gain information, but his father could be more agressive when he was drunk, so it was his fists that he'd used, and not his magic, as that would have caused more internal damage than the bruises that Kaleb recieved had. DAMN her! How did she know that using Kai was the best way to get to him? It was like she'd been saving it, letting little insults and comments build up to her grand finale. Well at least this was the last comment that he could expect, unless she had anything worse on him, and the only thing worse than using Kai against him would be using Zane against him, and he was pretty sure that no one knew about him and Shames at least, so he had that kept under lock and key. "He deserves a whole lot more, he's the most amazing guy I've ever met" Kaleb retorted weakly. She'd caught him off guard, or surely he would have come up with a better comment than that. "He's not my fuck buddy, he's my...was my lover, although you wouldn't understand that, would you?" He asked, ammending his speech. WHEN she got up to leave, Kaleb sighed with relief, giving it a good five minutes before he himself left the huge hall. He couldn't believe that he'd let her get to him so much, it was wrong! How could she know about Kai? The only people who knew about him and Kai being together were himself, Kai, Vicky, Coal and Joshua, and he was sure that Josh wouldn't have said anything because Kale knew too much on his own upbringing to use against him, and Coal wouldn't have done it. Unless someone else saw them, or overheard him talking or something. Or maybe they just assumed. He didn't know, but he didn't like people being in Kai's buisness like that.
