Joshua couldn’t believe it. His parents were crazy! And not just slightly crazy, no! Off their rocker, thinking the sky was red and the grass was pink mad! Mad like the mad people in that wing in st Mungo’s! if Joshua hadn’t studied the effects of the spell with his tutor, he would have thought that his parents had someone Obliviate their senses away! But he knew that no one would even date use that spell on a Dalton, let alone Daddy Dalton! So Josh had come to the belief that they’d just lost their minds by themselves. He pushed back the covers of his four poster bed, and realised that soon he wouldn’t have the luxury of having a bed to himself, because he’d be stuck sharing one with his wife that he didn’t want. Now Josh may sound like a kid throwing a paddy, but he had good reason to throw one, because he and his twin sister Beth, were both being thrown into arranged marriages, and neither of them knew the name of their chosen spouse yet. It was correct to say that neither of the twins were too happy about the arrangement, and both wanted a way out, and fast.Josh dressed quickly and walked out of the confines of the Slytherin dorm and common room, and found himself inside the entrance hall instead.
He wasn’t in the mood for breakfast, and so passed through the doors leading outside, and freedom and space hit him like a bludger. The warm air ruffled his hair, and rippled through his clothes as he walked out toward the lake. He took a seat at the bottom of a giant tree, and sat in it’s shadows, wondering about the girl who would soon be his wife. He didn’t know her name, her house, or what she was like, but he could assume. He assumed she was a Slytherin, although he could be wrong. He’d found himself lately, eying every Slytherin female and wondering if it was her! He knew she’d be a pure blood, as his parents would never set him up with something else. He also assumed that she was a spoilt brat who always got her way, and who would always bug him until he gave in. But Joshua Andrew Dalton was not the type to give in. He was used to winning, he always won, and he wasn’t about to start to lose now. No. He liked having all the space in the bed, he liked having his own way, and he liked having the freedom to marry who he wanted, and he wasn’t about to give any of that up.
Josh would fight and argue and stomp and yell until his throat was sore, his feet hurt, and his eyes were permanently red from all the fake tears that he’d use on his parents to get out of the marriage. He’d kick the walls and scream and even be violently sick on the precious new carpets of the Dalton estate if that was what it took to get him out of this infernal arrangement! He would do whatever he could, whatever it took, and whatever was necessary to save himself from a life married to a nagging wretch who would not let him win. But maybe she’d be nice. Maybe she’d be quiet and submissive, allowing him to do what he wanted, and cooking him meals and doing other wifely things. Yeah right. Because his parents would pick someone boring for his wife! Josh heard some footsteps approach him, and he opened his eyes to see what company he had.

It was fair to say that June was supposed to be the average student’s favourite month, or at least one of them. But, how could one enjoy the warmer weather in these circumstances? It was bad enough that she was still being forced to remain at Hogwarts, even after her tremendous upheaval, when she would much rather be moping and complaining, while lounging around her own house, than attend any more lessons in the stuffy History of Magic classroom. To make it all worse, if that was even possible, her father was now starting to appear as though part of his mental capacity was deteriorating. This was quite entertaining, at times, for the young woman to observe, now the situation affected her directly, she wasn’t as amused. Draco, practically in a matter of weeks, had come up with what he thought was the ‘perfect’ situation. Jaslene was yet to learn the exact details of the plan, but she knew the basic outline and she didn’t like the sound of it at all.
She couldn’t see why it wasn’t her younger sibling that was involved, who would probably willingly jump at the chance. His eldest daughter, on the other hand, was a lot more stubborn and reluctant. The surprising element of this plan was that he wasn’t giving in. She had protested at various times since he had first voiced his ideas, yet he was still showing no signs of relenting in his decision. She had never seen him looking so determined, and this was partly the thing that was causing the anxiety to creep in. Needless to say, she was not happy about the situation. And now her father was enforcing his clever plan, and with the days drawing nearer, she was turning towards slight insanity herself. The one thing that the girl really disliked was the fact that he had neglected to notify her of the most important piece of information: who she was actually getting married to. And from her point of view, this piece of information was vitally important. It was bad enough as it was, without the added fact that she could end up with practically any weird idiot off the street.
In order to try and push these thoughts aside for a while, Jas had decided to leave the castle walls during breakfast time, when she knew that most people would either be asleep, or still seated at the house tables. Surely peace and quiet was one of the ideal situations where she could think about her problems, or hopefully even think about something else, for a change. To her surprise, there was another person standing nearby her destination. Approaching the figure, she frowned, before realising that his reasons for being there were probably almost identical to her own. And besides, if she had to share her thinking place with anyone, she would much rather it be someone that understood her situation than someone who tried to crack some sort of joke, at her expense. That was the last thing she needed, and it would not be taken in good humour.

Josh couldn't believe that his parents sanity had deteriorated in such a short time. He didn't know what they were playing at, or if this was some sick, and very late, April fools joke. Most of him was wishing that the previous idea was the truth, but he had seen his parents faces when they told him of the plan, and lets leave it by saying that serious didn't cover the determined and completely un-faltering look on both of their faces. He couldn't believe that he had such crazies as his parents, and hoped that he didn't inherit the gene and wouldn't eventually turn crazy himself! Although maybe that would be a good reason not to have children, in case he had the crazy gene, and was trying not to pass it on! Sounded like a decent excuse, and he'd do his damnedest to use it well, and stop any little Joshua Dalton's running around and clinging to his expensive and hand-made robes.
No, he wouldn't have children because it would be just one big headache, with their crying and their smelling and other baby stuff. That was another good reason not to have babies. Baby stuff. not only was it ridiculous in itself, Josh didn't know the first thing about being a father and caring for a baby. And another thing, if baby scattered their toys on the floor, there was a risk of someone falling and getting injured, and he didn't want to ruin his perfect face and body, as he loved the way he looked too much to risk a baby-toy related accident! He was way to hot for that! No, he'd protest to his parents, and scream and even cry if that's what it took, because he just wasn't father material, nor husband material at the moment either! How did they expect him to share his space with a spouse who's name he didn't even know yet? that was the most worrying thing for Josh, because he could end up with a complete crazy randomer, who was below the standards that he was looking for. And another thing! He wanted to marry someone that he loved, and he most certainly didn't love this random. no-named person!
Why should he be forced to live a life of misery and turmoil, so that his parents can have pure blooded and good looking grand-kids that would drive Joshua Dalton mad with the crying and the baby stuff? It made no sense to him, and neither did anything his parents had said to him lately either. His eyes looked up and took in the petite figure and the pretty face of Jaslene Malfoy. She was pretty, yes, but not Joshua's type. At least not his type for the moment! His type seemed to change depending on his mood, and he was fairly sure that no matter what his type was, there was no way that his no-named fiancé - Merlin he hated that word - would fit his type. Ever. "Well hello, miss Malfoy. Any word on what your new last name will be yet? Because my parents are still withholding information from me."
Josh asked, sighing as he remembered the words his parents said every time he asked. How long does finalizing something take anyway? Well at least he had someone who understood what he was going through for company. [/blockquote] Tagged Jaslene Malfoy ♥ Lyrics damned if i do ya - All Time Low Counted at 563. Thankfully for the Slytherin girl, the boy seemed mostly concerned with his own thoughts. This allowed her to find the small amount of peace that she had craved previously. If her mother was around, she would have told her to talk about her issues and feelings with another person, as sharing problems apparently ‘helped.’ But, as though Jaslene would take the advice of someone who had sauntered off with no regard for her family. Who was she supposed to talk to about that particular problem? How was that going to be solved by sharing the information with some random student that crossed her path? What Hermione Malfoy didn’t seem to account for, what she had failed to tell her daughter was that there were some problems in life that couldn’t be solved instantly There were some problems that couldn’t be solved by a small open-heart session. Some problems were a lot deeper than others.
Turning her body towards the only other figure nearby, she watched his body language for a few minutes, speculating as to what he was thinking about. It had also come to her attention, also quite recently, that some people were significantly harder to read than others. First years were notoriously easy to interpret. Sixth and seventh year students, however, their thoughts could vary incredibly, making it ultimately more difficult to judge as to the predominating thought running through their head. Perhaps she wasn’t particularly interested in what was filling his mind, because she soon found her eyes falling upon a tree in the background instead. Even if she wasn’t the best judge of character or the best mystic, it was pretty obvious what had the boy so deeply involved in his own thoughts. The same thing, no doubt, that she was trying to distance herself from. It seemed that she would never truly be able to put the thought and all the related information behind her, until it was either over and finished with, or until she had managed to ruin the plan.
As far as she could see, she was currently doing a somewhat decent effort at removing all negative thoughts from her own brain. But then, it sort of fell apart, when her company transferred his attention and gaze. She couldn’t help but start to worry herself slightly, although no visible signs could be seen. Surely it wasn’t just her? She was aware that she had a tendency to overreact and jump from one extreme to another, in terms of emotions, but surely she wasn’t the only individual thinking that this decision was bringing about the end of her liberty and personal choice? Maybe it was different for him. It was probably always different for the proposed husband than the wife. The husband was allowed to do things that she wasn’t. Oh Merlin, what if she was expected to do the household chores? She couldn’t bear the thought. Her hands were clearly not made for any type of manual labour like cleaning.
Her eyes met his for the first time since she had ventured into the area. “Joshua,”
she acknowledged in reply to his greeting. It might just have been her emotions kicking in, but she had never realised that he had such nice eyes before. She blinked, hardly believing what she had just thought. Joshua Dalton was a seventh year that she could tolerate if she really tried. But, the thought of her ever liking his eyes, or anything more, was a ludicrous one. She could no more think that of him than she could of the Headmaster. It was weird, and frankly, she had more important things to consider than what shade his facial features were. It seemed to be a familiar habit of hers, focusing on anything in order to distract herself from the unwanted reality, a simple coping device, so she thought nothing more of it. Shaking her head at his question, she admitted her failing in this area. “I remain ignorant to the whole truth. So, as to my name, your guess is as good as mine. It's all good though. The suspense is thrilling me.”[/blockquote][/blockquote] tagged joshua andrew dalton. word count six-seven-eight. and the outfit click here to see

Joshua was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he wasn't as talkative as usual. He was contemplating ways out of this marriage, as he'd much rather marry someone that he chose, someone that he loved, and someone that his parents didn't have a say in. He would rather find his own wife, and thought that he at least deserved the freedom to do that! It was in his rights wasn't it? To chose who he wanted to spend forever with. But his parents didn't seem to care. And not only were they sentencing Joshua to this loveless life, but they'd charged Beth with the same sentence too, and she felt very much the same as he did about it! Joshua didn't notice because he was so lost in thought, but he was looking at Jaslene with a deep in thought look, so he shook his thoughts back to the moment, as he was going to work a way out of this anyway. He was not marrying some random girl who he didn't know. Maybe it would be one of the cousins. he knew that marrying a cousin was legal, but to marry a second cousin was illegal. But honestly, he didn't want to marry a cousin, as they were family, and it was wrong to think of spending his life with any of his female cousins like that. It actually made him feel sick!
In fact, Josh would rather just not marry at all! he'd do it when he was ready, and then could live in a nice house with his wife and no children, because as discussed before, their toys were dangerous, and he was too hot to be a father! His lovely hair would all turn grey and then fall out. or be pulled out, because babies were violent with hair! He'd seen their little hands clawing and clinging to peoples hair, pulling hard and laughing when the person displayed signs of pain. It was just mean! Kids these days were devil children, and any child he had would most definitely be a devil child! He could imagine it setting fires and talking back, ignoring what he said and making him shout till his throat hurt like there was a fire set in it. No, he was never having kids! In fact, if they were so prone to arson, they probably would set a fire in his throat! That would not turn out good! Was that even possible using magic? He didn't see why not, as it was completely possible to kill someone by saying two words. And the words weren't 'drop dead' either. Although maybe he should try saying something like that to his fiancee. I'd rather drop dead than marry you was Josh's first thought, although his parents would probably kill him. Great! Two possible ways out of marriage!
Josh was rambling mentally again, and his eyes had drifted until they settled upon the eyes of Jaslene Malfoy. Which, actually, were pretty nice. What? He dismissed the thought straight away and moved on to thinking of more things he could say to discourage the marriage. Because, frankly, thinking of Jaslene Malfoy as anything more than a house mate was just ludicrous and wrong! It didn’t seem right to even think her eyes were pretty, let alone anything else! No wonder that in the little time he'd been at Hogwarts, he'd only talked to her once or twice. It was just odd, and although she was pretty, Josh couldn't think about that because it was just morally wrong, and so he busied himself with escape plans. Maybe he could run away to somewhere in Wales. It was such an odd place that no one would think to look for him there! Or London! he could go to London, as it was such a big place that chances of finding him were slim to none! London sounded good too! "Oh yes, I'm on my toes waiting to find out who I'll meet at the alter! My parents best tell me soon or else I'll have to turn into the ninja spy and find out for myself!"
Josh said with a smirk, the first bit was sarcastic though, as the suspense wasn't thrilling for him, it was painful. Joshua Dalton was no ordinary guy. No, he was good looking, and smart most of the time, although he could be reckless and take risks if he thought it would be fun. He was also a pure blood wizard from one of the best families around, and he knew that if any girl married him when it was forced, his parents would probably go looking for good qualities such as smarts and talent that could be passed onto Joshua's children, along with his pure, Dalton blood. Blood was probably the second thing they were looking for, as they couldn't combine Dalton blood with just anyone! No, if he had children with anyone, she'd have to have pure blood, as his parents would never allow it other ways. They would probably be looking for good looks third, as they didn't want to be having ungly grand-children now, did they? Of course not! No one with Dalton blood would be an ugly child. That would be almost sinful!
Joshua tried, using these factors to think of anyone who would fit all the categories, but he just couldn't think. It was like his brain was so full of all those thoughts he'd had about children that he couldn't think straight anymore. See, he'd not even got anyone pregnant yet, let alone learned who his bride was, and children were already messing with his head! He should never have children, they would take his sanity away within one minute! He couldn't wait to learn who hsi wife was though, as when he finds out who she was, it was so much easier to come up with a plan to drive her away because he would know exactly what would annoy her the most. The plan at the moment was that he would figure out what annoyed the girl the most, and then repeatedly play to that annoying mannor and hope that she goes crying to daddy, begging for him to stop the marriage because she couldn't spend her life with him as her husband, and BAM! Wedding over.
"Point. Well I think if I set a few fires, grab some attention and then threaten to turn the whole of the Dalton children against them if they didn't reveal my fiancee to me immediately, they may just give in. Although ninja like would be so much more interesting, as fire's are boring these days."
Josh said with a smirk, then listened to the rest of her words. "Oh yes! A flick of the hair, a pout and a little cry and bob's your uncle, as the saying goes! Well I think I should try and batter my eyelids too, after all, who can refuse this face!" Joshua said, fluttering his eyelashes to add effect, and then smiling the cutest smile he could get, practicing for using it on his parents. The more he looked like a young child, the more likely they were to cave and tell him. Knowing her present company enough to realise he was still thinking about himself, she rolled her eyes towards the clear blue skies stretching above their heads. It was true that really, she couldn’t say that she actually knew all that much about the guy she was standing beside. It was probably fair to say that she knew next to nothing about Joshua Dalton. Sure, they happened to have been sorted into the same house, so of course, some interaction had occurred over the time they had spent together. But really, he could have told her pretty much anything, and she wouldn’t know fact from fiction. This raised the issue that she had failed to get to know many people from her own house or year at Hogwarts. So, when she knew so little about the people she was prepared to spend some of her precious time on, how was getting married to someone that she had yet to meet much different? She might have known a few more things about some of her housemates, but the differences, when one looked at it this way, weren’t all that apparent.
Being the predictable person that he was, Jaslene’s father had tried to convince his daughter, and perhaps even himself, to a certain extent, that this was the best course of action that ‘the family’ could possibly take at this moment in time. Obviously this was easy for him to say, when he wasn’t the one being forced to do something against their will, in order to strive for some limited protection. As she had proved over her six years at the school, she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself, and she hated the idea of someone running after her, to stop her from doing anything that might cause some risk to her health or safety. It seemed as though she’d be doing a lot of sitting down in chairs and not moving, to guarantee her well-being. She didn’t like this at all. How dare some arrogant twerp think he had the authority to make ridiculous demands of her like that, and expect her to accept it, without another word. It was stupid. And more importantly, it wasn’t happening. If it took everything she possessed, she’d give almost anything to prevent her life being that restricted.
Pushing her light hair behind her ears, she frowned at his response. She hadn’t known him that long, but she was beginning to learn that this boy was rather unusual in his behaviour. “Your initiative in every situation is to burn something,”
she pouted at his remarks, not liking the idea much at all. “Call me cynical, but I’m beginning to see a pattern emerging.” She hadn’t paid much attention to any of the Daltons when they first landed at the school, against the will of several older children, but she’d heard the rumours of course. And the most exciting one, according to third year gossip, was that they planned to burn various areas of Hogwarts. Now, he was suggesting that he got to burn something else? Merlin, she was starting to believe that he was some sort of undiagnosed pyromaniac. His next set of sarcastic comments made her laugh, against her will. “Don’t take this badly, Dalton, but I’d do almost anything to stop you from using that face. It might work on other people, but it’s rather disturbing from this perspective.” His statements had made her think. Still pouting slightly, she proposed the stakes. “Besides, we all know that I’d be able to find out everything, before you even got a chance to think about it.” She smirked, “What can I say? Guess I’m just that talented along with all the rest. It’s a tough life, but someone’s got to do it.” Glancing back at the boy, she gave a small grin, a highly entertaining thought reaching her head. “What say you, Joshua? Up for a little contest? Just promise me you won’t cry or anything embarrassing when I win, as I undoubtedly will.”[/blockquote][/blockquote] tagged joshua andrew dalton. word count six-two-something. and the outfit click here to see

Joshua couldn't believe a few things in this world. One, was that muggles were silly enough not to realise that magic existed. But he definitely couldn't believe that not only had his parents managed to remove him of his freedom in the choice of where he gained his education, but they were also going to steal his freedom to chose who he was to love, who he was to marry, who he was to have his children with, and who he was to spend the rest of his life hating because of the freedom less position he'd been put in. He also couldn't believe that his parents thought that he'd let them get away with it either, as he was determined that even if he had to fake-feint at the alter, or even pronounce that when it came to the 'I do's' he most certainly didn't, he would do it to keep his beloved freedom. But not only that, he'd also do his damnedest to make sure that he didn't even make it that far, and even if that involved insulting the girl that he was to call his wife, he'd do it to make her beg her parents not to allow her to spend the rest of her life unhappy and with him.
"Well fire causes damage and grabs attention. And if I burn down Hogwarts and get sent to Azkaban, I'm pretty sure that my mystery fiancée wouldn't want to marry me then!"
Joshua said with a grin, mentally noting that plan to add to his list. He was trying to think of anything that was good enough to get him out of this, and he wasn't going to do this half-heartedly either. He was getting out of this marriage, even if it took gnawing off his own hand to do so. Okay, maybe not to that extreme, but a few fires wasn't that bad considering the expertise in the fire industry that they had. And it wasn't as if fires couldn't be put out, unless he did some awesome spell to protect the fire from water. Now that would be awesome and attention grabbing! Maybe he'd hit the library later, keep his options open and see if such a spell existed. "But this face is so cute! This is the face that got me the Owl that I have, and the broom that I also own!" He said with a smile, remembering how long it took him to get that ridiculously expensive broom. "Oh of course you would!" Josh said sarcastically, rolling his eyes, but keeping a jokey smile on his lips. He knew that if he really tried he could get his hands on the information, but to be honest he wasn't sure he wanted to know, because it could be someone completely awful! "A contest? What, like who can find out first? Your on. You won't win, and boys don't cry" Joshua said, puffing out his chest in a mock-hero look, but he started to laugh again. He knew boys did cry, but he wasn't the type to do it unless he got something out of it, and then it was worth it, as long as the thing was awesome and useful. At times, Jaslene found herself wanting to mentally kick herself for the thoughts that ran through her mind. Now, when she was free to do pretty much anything she desired, she rarely found herself in this awkward situation. However, when she was facing such an ambiguous future, now were the times that all the doubts were starting to creep into her head. Not only did she hate these thoughts, but also she was beginning to dislike herself, to an extent, for even considering anything else. How could she pretend or imagine strange scenarios where everything turned out for the best? It wasn’t ever going to happen, and it was pointless for her to entertain herself with such absurd images. But, maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t all bad? Like, she couldn’t ever imagine her father wishing his eldest daughter to stay in a house, married to someone she despised. If it didn’t work out, as she expected, then there was always the option of divorce, right?
Except that just as her father had enforced the marriage on her behalf, she seemed to be lacking the ability to back out or run away, or anything, if she hated it. Knowing the type of guys that were her age, she wasn’t confident that her father would have organised a fiancé that she could tolerate. He’d probably be just as arrogant as she had first imagined, and do everything to make her life as miserable as possible. Not that she was particularly worried anymore, as she’d practically decided that she was going to do everything to ruin this engagement, before it was even finalised, if possible. The most annoying thing, from her opinion, was that these three adults seriously believed that they had a right to mess with her life, as well as the man she was going to marry. Of course, her main priority was her own happiness and freedom, rather than his, but all the same, it didn’t seem fair or justified for either of them.
“Say what you want, I still believe that you’ve become too fond of blowing things up,”
she teased, still keeping with the somewhat accusative tone in his direction. It wasn’t as though she was that concerned however. Why should she be bothered about his plans? It wasn’t like he was planning to ruin her life, or burn her house down. As long as he stayed away from those two conditions, she was quite content to let him follow through on his ideas. Her tongue reaching the roof of her mouth, she laughed at his claims. “Well, I’m sorry to say that, personally, it doesn’t do all that much for me. Maybe you should try it on a more gullible person?” It was strange, in her mind that a grown boy would plead with pained expressions just for some material object. All she had to do, was ask her father. Well, usually. Now, his generosity had altered slightly, with the changes to their family situation. Poking her tongue at him, she frowned at his sarcasm, not appreciating his doubt in her abilities. “You know I’d beat you at almost anything, Joshua.” She wasn’t being deliberately conceited in her bragging of her talents; part of her really believed that she’d be better at extorting information from other people than he would. But then, what if his parents were easy to get the details out of? That wouldn’t be viewed as particularly fair. Maybe she’d visit them, and prevent them from telling him, until she knew the full plan for her own life? Hmm, maybe it was best not to interfere in that manner. Besides the fact that it could take her a large and vital proportion of her time to convince them not to disclose any further information, it would also seem borderline stalkerish. And one of the last things she wanted anyone thinking about her was that she was in love, especially if they thought she was obsessed with Joshua Dalton. Which she actually wasn’t? He just happened to have some stupidly attractive eyes. “What other kind of bet would I be proposing?” She inquired, rolling her eyes at his question. “Hardly going to be who can collect the most cats, or kiss the most thestrals, is it?” Although, now she came to think about that, she'd probably pay good money to watch him hitting on those creatures.[/blockquote][/blockquote] tagged joshua andrew dalton. word count seven-one-six. and the outfit click here to see

Joshua shook his head and shrugged. "Well, believe me, it works well as a distraction, so if ever you need a distraction to get somewhere, send me an owl and I'll do my best"
he joked, laughing. He wasn't a pyromaniac, he just knew that fires brought attention like flies to some awfully smelly stuff that he didn't want to talk about at all. And when he needed attention to get what he wanted, he turned to fires to do the job. And they usually did the job well too! If ever there was a new nanny in the Dalton household, fires certainly worked to get rid of them, and sharpish, too! Trust him, he'd used it enough times to help free the younger kids of their nannies. Although he wouldn't have been surprised if the nannies were there to keep an eye on the older children too! "Well I'm sad about that, as it has never failed me before. Maybe it'll grow on you" Josh remarked, smirking. He highly doubted it though. "Oh yes of course I do" Josh said sarcastically, rolling his eyebrows. There was no doubt in his mind that he could beat her in anything, as he was just that awesome. And plus he was multi-talented, although there were some things that he was so bad at, like history of magic, because it was so painfully boring! He hated that god awful subject. "Well, you know that thestrals think I'm hot, so it could have been! And I was clarifying, because your speech isn't very descriptive, love" Joshua said with a shrug. Okay, he was up for a challenge! He could so totally do this. He'd write to his parents, lie, tell them that he'd been selfish and was totally in on this wedding shenanigans, and that he'd seen the light. He'd promise not to throw up any trouble as long as they wrote him with the name of his fiancée immediately, and BAM! He'd win the bet. It would be easy! "Your on, princess. What do I get when I win?" Josh asked, curious as to what she was betting. He liked a good bet, did Josh. It was always interesting, and he liked winning. He used to bet a lot, with random things, like how long it would take for the new nannies to get packing! He was sure that their record was something like two days before the nanny had left the house crying hysterically. He laughed. Okay, so maybe that was heartless, but Josh was sure that it was for the best in the end, because otherwise the Dalton children would just drive her completely crazy until she went to st mungo’s instead of home. And that just wouldn’t be good for her, so in the end, he’d helped her out! Hell she should have bought them a thank you card or something. ‘thanks for saving my sanity. If I ever get the guts to come within five miles of your home, I owe you one’ would be perfect! He’d put it up on the mantelpieced as a reminder of the good times. She was starting to think that he wouldn’t have much to work on, if he wanted to put this clueless girl off. For a start, he wasn’t even trying, and she was thinking him to be lacking some of the important mental capacity. And this was her speaking. Well, not speaking per se. But, if she couldn’t imagine a more annoying boy to spend a large percentage of their time in the same building with. Merlin knew how this poor unsuspecting girl would react to the whole situation. “I’ll bear that in mind, but given what God gave me, I’m sure I can handle most things for myself,”
she replied, thoughtfully. What was it with all these males offering to take care of her? She wasn’t a little cat, for Merlin’s sake! She was perfectly able to deal with unwanted situations on her own. “And, I have to say it’s looking unlikely. As cute as you are and everything.” Wow, she was already regretting this joke. He’d probably take it the wrong way and end up with more ego than he currently had. And that was quite a daunting thought. At his next statement, her mouth opened a small amount, showing her bout of surprise. Composing her features again, she spoke, addressing his comments, “Well, I’m sorry, babe, but I didn’t realise you had that much trouble understanding the common teenage language. Given that all I ever seem to think about is the marriage, I simply imagined that you’d be able to catch on.” She shook her head, in mock disappointment. “Don’t worry, we can work on that. Otherwise a girl with a quarter of a brain will make a brighter spouse than you.” She added this bit in a bit of a hushed undertone, talking more to herself at that point than to the boy stood nearby. “And I’m even more worried about you than I was before, if that is actually possible. Thestrals wouldn’t find you attractive...” She paused, glancing at the castle in the distance, as she surveyed the young adult standing before her, “Not unlike most humans then.” She smirked, still with the everlasting sweetness in her voice. This, of course, was the most important question. Well, given that they were both bound to be married at a near date, the most important question was probably whether they’d take the boy/girl to be their spouse. But this was the more essential issue at this time, regardless of other questions that might have seemed more important to other people. What would he receive if he, by some miracle, actually won this little bet? She couldn’t think of anything that she had to offer that would make the bet more interesting, but then she viewed the game as more imperative than the prize at the end. But, what if she won, as she thought she would? She couldn’t even name what she’d want from him, in return. This was the most difficult part. It appeared that the actual task itself would be much easier than the decision making at this moment. Raising an eyebrow, being a mixture of curious and suspicious at his question, she answered it with another, “I suppose that would depend on what you want...” Her eyes flickering into the distance once more, she spoke once again, “But, as we've previously discovered, your question is irrelevant. Seeing as you’ll be the one paying up.”[/blockquote][/blockquote] tagged joshua andrew dalton. word count five-seven-something. and the outfit click here to see

Joshua couldn't believe that this girl would underestimate him as much as she was. not only was he a Dalton, but he was one of the most amazing Dalton's from the family! He and his sister, Beth, were like the awesome Dalton twins, and everyone knew what they were capable of. He was just glad that no one knew the secrets that they knew about each other. Of course Joshua shared things with his sister, but there were some things that she didn't know about him, although that was probably the best for her. He'd managed to keep all the things she'd told her secret though, and he trusted her to do the very same. Beth was his twin sister, and he trusted her with his life, so a few secrets wouldn't go amiss, after all, she'd never tell anyone because she knew he knew her secrets too. Not that he'd tell them under any circumstances, but just the possibility of them being told would be enough to make her think twice about spreading secrets about Joshua. "Well in any case, if you come down from your ivory tower and need some help, then just give me a letter"
He said with a smirk. At the next thing she said, at first he thought she was serious, but by the look on her face and the tone of her voice, he could tell that she was most definitely joking. "I know, I am cute aren't I?" He mocked, flicking his hair in a way that resembled the women in one of those odd muggle adverts for shampoo. "That's because I learned English, love, and not the language of shortened words and slang. My parents paid for people to raise me properly, thank you very much" He replied jokingly, running his hand through his hair, which was slightly messy thanks to the demonstration a moment ago. She said something else in a sort of undertone, but he couldn't hear it, so he let it slip past, as he couldn't reply to something he hadn't heard now, could he? It took him a moment of thought though to work out what she'd said. "Great, let her go get married and I'll go be with someone I love and not someone who was handed to me on a plate" He answered back, smiling. "Oh, dear, there is no need to worry about me. My shrink said I am perfectly sane!" He said with a grin, ignoring her uncalled for remark about people not being attracted to him. Tell that to the gaggle of girls that followed him around the dungeons. He found it amusing to turn random ways and then disappear, so they got lost, because they didn't know their way around the dungeons like he did. They'd follow him again the next day though, silly girls. He wondered who helped them out, or if they tried retracing steps or something. Joshua smirked as he heard his words. Okay, he was thinking long and hard about this one now. How often did an opportunity like this come up? He had absolutely no idea, but he doubted that it was even once in a blue moon! "I want you. to run around dancing like your from the seventies and yelling that I am the best there ever is, was, and will ever be. Oh, and that I've got sweet cheeks" He said with a smirk, doubting that she'd agree now. He so wanted to win, just to see that little demonstration! It would be amazing! And he'd laugh so hard at that. "And my lovely, you underestimate me and I am sure that I will win, as winning is my thing!" He said with a grin, deciding that he'd have to venture up to the tower to go get his owl later, and then he'd send the letter asap, because he could think of no other way to get what he wanted. information about his bride to be [/blockquote] Tagged Jaslene Malfoy ♥ Lyrics damned if i do ya - All Time Low Counted at 664 Wearing clothes. Not knowing what he seriously thought about everything that was happening, it was weird to think that they were somewhat joking about the situation they had both found themselves in. It was weirder to think that, in a way, it slightly relieved her of some of the anxiety she had been carrying for the past three or four weeks. What was weirdest of all was the fact that they were laughing about a subject that neither of them was happy about, a topic that wasn’t in the least bit amusing. She couldn’t deny though, even to herself, that she wouldn’t be laughing at him, if she hadn’t landed in the same kind of circumstances. The way she saw it, it was like someone falling over. Hilarious, at all times, unless that person tripping over their feet happened to be you. Merlin, was that what other people would be thinking? She couldn’t know for sure, but what if they were all laughing about it, at her expense? That was a thought she didn’t like at all. She concluded that very few people at Hogwarts would dare to laugh at her, at least in front of her face. And, honestly, she couldn’t care less if that was all they talked about. It just showed that they needed their own life, instead of obsessing over hers.
“And I’ll have you know, Joshua, that I don’t live in any sort of tower. I simply don’t need protecting.”
That wasn’t the impression she gave off, right? Because all these boys offering to take care of her, seemed to indicate that she seemed weak, in some way. Maybe it wasn’t her personality, or appearance. Maybe it was the obvious. Maybe they all seemed to think that she’d be falling to pieces, and unable to look after herself properly, due to her parent disappearing. But what they all appeared to forget was that she was now an adult in the wizarding world, and she wasn’t some small, naive girl. His next question distracted her from these deep thoughts. “I don’t know what you want, but why are you so obsessed with me admitting that you’re somewhat cute?” Wait, did she say that she’d be admitting it? That came out slightly wrong. Now it seemed like she actually thought he was. Shit. “Not that I think that you are,” she added. Yeah, great save, she complained to her head. Because that was completely convincing, wasn’t it? Not to mention that she had left it too long to make it sound like the entire phrase was sarcastic. Now, if she had been weak, as everyone else surrounding her seemed to believe, she would have melted slightly when he ran a hand through his hair. She knew that many girls would fall for any boy that used this tactic, but she wasn’t one of these girls. Ignoring the motion completely, she rolled his eyes at his statement. “You honestly think that my parents would allow for me to learn the limited language of the youth?” After all the money that had been thrown in her direction, in order to educate herself and her younger sibling, the thought was laughable. It was this that made her realise perhaps why the three of them, not forgetting his twin sister, had been forced into marriage, was because their families, although ranging in blood type and status, had resorted to the same idea. It was the type of thing that most pureblood families would do, in order to carry on their valued and pure genes to the next generation. “Love?” she repeated, in a sort of incredulous voice. “Well, good luck with that.” As soon as she saw the cogs turning around rapidly around in his brain, she was starting to regret offering herself in that way. Was it really sensible to offer anything he wanted, for a bet like that? “You want me to do what?” she replied, her mouth slightly agape. Surely she had heard him wrong? Looking back at his expression, she was disappointed to see that he clearly wanted this. “And what would that include? Seeing as you’re the one being less specific now.” It was fair enough that he pointed out her mistake, but she wasn’t going to let him do it himself in her presence now. She couldn’t allow for hypocrites. Why would he want all that attention anyway? She knew he would request something weird, as he had obviously just done, but she couldn’t work out what he got out of it. Smirking at his injudicious remark, she laughed a little. “I think you mean that winning was your thing. Sadly, that particular quality departed when you met me.”[/blockquote][/blockquote] tagged joshua andrew dalton. word count seven-something-words. and the outfit click here to see

Joshua couldn't believe how easy it was to joke about the situation that they were in, considering that it was deadly serious. Whoever they were arranged to marry would be their partner, the parent of their children, and the one that they'd share their life with from the point of saying 'I do' onward. But the weird thing was, that it helped. It helped the worry, it helped take away the thoughts of how serious it all was, and it helped him relax and be happier. When he was joking about it and laughing like he was right now, it made him feel more relaxed and less like it was actually going to happen. More like it was just a bad dream or something odd like that. "Of course, well when your ready to let your hair down, princess, let me know"
He joked, even managing a reference to the muggle princess from a story. Oh, hot damn! He was good! Actually, although he wouldn't admit it, he was surprised that she wasn't falling apart at the seams, considering that she'd lost a parent that she loved and that loved her, and now she was being shoved into an arranged marriage, he was surprised that she was still okay. "Because I knew that you thought that I was and I like knowing the truth." He answered simply, realising that he did like knowing the truth, and at the moment his parents were keeping the truth from him. How stupid, awful and selfish was that? If he was being stuck in this marriage with some random girl who's blood had been deemed acceptable, then shouldn't he at least get to know who she was, how long it was going to be until he actually was a married man. God that sounded weird. Him, a married man? No, not weird, but wrong somehow, like it wasn't meant to be yet. He wasn't ready to be married to anyone, let alone someone that his parents had chosen! How silly was it that they had picked now to do this, why couldn't they at least wait and let him live a little first? How was he supposed to go out partying and drinking when he had a wife at home waiting for him to have a kid with her? And not just a kid, but a pure blood child who was a mix of Dalton blood, and the blood of whatever lucky girl they picked to let him call misses. "Run around dancing like your from the seventies and yell about how awesome I am and how I am the best, and that I have sweet cheeks" He repeated, a smug smile on his lips. He was happy with that suggestion. Okay, so the more perverted men would have asked for something sexual, but Joshua, although he could have a dirty mind sometimes, he wasn't a sick pervert who would take advantage like that. He had more respect for women than that! At least he came up with something that would give everyone a laugh, as it would mean that a proud Malfoy was being taken down a notch and making her yell about how awesome he was, and how he was the one who was always a winner. "Well I'll reclaim that title with this little adventure" Josh said with a grin.
